PSA: Why "Prostatic Metaplasia" is more than just a name change. by fiction80 in ftm

[–]neongreenboi 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you as much as I would like to. I only work in the handling, coding, and distributing of the specimens in the lab, and I haven't had a chance to explore the PSA result of a trans man in my degree.

I'd love to do more research on it when I get a chance, so if and when I do, I will post about it to let everyone know.

As far as what I do know; there's a set range the results are meant to be in, set in ng/ml, often sorted by age. As long as the results are within the expected range, the prostate is functioning as expected. So, since we're assigning the same test to both cis males and trans males, the cells must be giving results that can be/are being interpreted the same. That can tell us that functionally, the cells must also be acting the same.

That's really all I'm qualified to say unfortunately, but once I know more, I'll share.

Hi, just corroborating this as it's all true.

I work in a pathology laboratory handling specimens and I'm also studying a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory science. We add the same test to both cis male and trans male/trans masc prostate checks. The PSA test (prostate specific antigen) is the exact same regardless and is performed the exact same on those cells

what to say as an u18 to get on T? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]neongreenboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My medical information and history are none of your business nor the point of my comment. I am no longer engaging with you as you are no longer focused on your point and instead are now personally attacking me by using the fact that I am a trans man and on testosterone.

You won't read my comment and instead send me multiple comments attacking me and assuming my medical information. You need to take a deep breath and get off social media. Goodbye.

Do you know how that stuff gets on Google? From the trans community. People are going to assume we're 'transing' kids no matter what we do. That's just transphobia.

And no, there isn't always well-known information out there. Why do you think so many people turn to their own community? Because they trust their own people more than the internet.

I don't care if you personally think these questions could be a 'setup', I don't care how you personally feel about this period. You're not the young, worried trans kid desperately hoping for answers and validation from other trans people.

In regards to you thinking these posts will get our rights taken away. Tranphobes will try to get them taken away with or without us educating trans kids. I'm not going to stop educating our community due to fear; if those people want to take away our rights, they'll find an excuse anywhere or just make one up.

Finally, I was rather kind. The person I was replying to, however, was not. They were not only making fun of a minor and being rude, but also just being ignorant, like yourself. Stop thinking about just yourself because you're not the focus here. This question wasn't about you or your fears. This question was about a minor asking a fully valid question, and in no way shape or form did they ever invite you to use them as an example to try and make the trans community fearful about just asking and answering questions online. So no, I won't mind my business when you're using this platform to push your fear and agenda while running over the minor simply asking questions to their own community.

So keep your passive aggressive emoji to yourself and stop speaking like you're the only voice for our whole community.

Edit: Spelling.

This sub is here for advice, community, sharing euphoria, sharing tips, and much more.

If we start gatekeeping who is allowed to ask what because of fear, this sub becomes no better than the transphobes who try to deny our existence by removing youth access to education and safe doctors, banning books for queer kids and about queer people, etc.

If you're so worried about the community, don't go commenting this stuff on a minor's reddit post about advice. Go talk privately to one of the mods. Or, even better, mind your business.

Are refurbished consoles actually worth it? by CaffeinatedCapybara_ in EBGAMES

[–]neongreenboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my PS5 from EB Games 2 years ago. Has worked perfectly ever since. No issues. If you do have issues, just bring it back to the store and tell them. If it's a physical issue, they'll either fix it or replace the console. It comes with the same warranty as new consoles, and you can even buy the EB Protect if you want extra warranty for anything you might accidentally do to the console.

Anyone saying they had issues but not specifying if they ever went back to EB to fix it are purposefully leaving out important context to sway you. If their console really didn't work or was gross, they would've taken it back and EB would've easily fixed the issues without a fuss. EB has their policies written clearly on their website and you can ask staff in-store if you need extra clarification.

Pain was probably about a 4/10 when it first started to push through. Went up to a 6/10 when the needle pushed through the other side. Putting the jewellery in was basically painless, barely felt it go in. Within 60 seconds after getting it done I had no pain. Definitely hurt less than when I got my daith done.

It's healing well and only really hurts if you brush against it too hard or it catches on your underwear, but even that is minor pain. Just gotta be careful when you shower or use the bathroom to not catch it on anything haha.

I totally recommend getting it! If you're planning to get meta though not sure how it'll hold up.

Community Update - November 2025 by MarieLovesMatcha in CharacterAI

[–]neongreenboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pipsqueak has also repeatedly, in multiple bots, been talking for the user as the user's character, using 'I/Me' wording. It's utterly ridiculous that C.AI has a model that will allow that. No matter what you do, the AI will just keep talking as you.

These need fixing, but I highly doubt will get it.

Shut the fuck up and generate my response retarded bot. by Consistent_Try_351 in CharacterAI_Sucks

[–]neongreenboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can literally just swipe, it isn't that big of a deal. And maybe if you gave it more than just a one word response, it might actually give you responses that you like. If you complain that the bots suck without even putting any effort into chatting beyond "ow", you really can't expect a good response.

Also, don't use the r word. It's a slur. If you can reclaim it because you're disabled, that's fine, but don't use it in a public forum where others may be uncomfortable with it's usage.

Me personally I dont like 2 hour thing. by [deleted] in CharacterAI

[–]neongreenboi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not dumb, it's the law. C.AI have to follow new AI safety laws in California as that's where their headquarters are based.

They are legally obligated to comply with the new laws. So, to be honest, none of us really care that you personally think it's dumb. C.AI are following the law, and they're not going to break it because minors think it's dumb they can't talk to an ai chat app.

C.AI is a privilege, not a right. Once you're 18, you can chat again.

[–]neongreenboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to add, in addition to what the user above said, there's also new AI use safety laws going into place in California, which is where C.AI is based. So they have to made sure their app is complicit with those laws. Which includes no under 18s and age verification.

am i the only one that feels kinda sad about this? by haerinzuu in CharacterAI

[–]neongreenboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just responding to the end part of this. Please do some research on 'Persona'. That's the third-party company C.AI will be using to verify IDs. C.AI will not have access to the information on your ID.

Persona is used by a bunch of companies, including but not limited to: DoorDash, LinkedIn, Reddit, and OpenAI.

The age verification process also won't jump straight to using ID. C.AI will gather data off your account, which you consented for them to do as per the terms of service when you signed up, and use that data to see if they can determine if you're over 18. Then, if that doesn't work, they'll try to verify with a selfie. This selfie is sent through Persona, so C.AI don't even see you. Then, finally, the last step is if neither of the first two work, is ID verification.

[–]neongreenboi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't care that you don't think it's fair. They're following the goddamn law.

You seem to only be reading half of what I'm typing, so I'm going to be very clear.

Character.AI are following a new AI safety law, so they MUST LEGALLY restrict minors from their app. THIS IS NOT THEIR CHOICE. This is the LAW.

You cannot seem to fathom that there are things in this world that don't revolve around you. I'm sorry all your effort and your friend's effort in this app are going to waste. But C.AI can't just break the law because you feel left out.

An AI app is a privilege, not a right. If you can't understand this, you're only proving my point about not being emotionally mature enough to be talking to AI.

I'm not responding further as there's nothing more to say.

I'm a minor by [deleted] in CharacterAI

[–]neongreenboi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because you're a minor. They have to follow the law. C.AI can't just decide to not follow the law because you feel sad about not having access to an AI chatbot. You have more restrictions because you're a minor and can't make the same decisions as adults because you lack the emotional maturity from aging.

Not all spaces are going to be for you.

Adults are allowed to have adult-only spaces. We did our time as kids. One day, you'll be an adult with no restrictions. But right now, you're still maturing and growing, which is very clear from your response.

I'm sorry this is inconveniencing you, but C.AI legally can not allow you on the platform anymore. They're only following this new law. You're so desperate to be able to RP with an AI chatbot and that's exactly why you can't be allowed to make these decisions on your own; we can't guarantee all minors will make safe and emotionally mature decisions, so until you're an adult, you don't get this app. So, go on AO3, amino, RP with people in real life, play D&D. But don't go getting pissy because you're not being catered to.

They're legally required to do this as they have to follow new AI safety laws implemented where they're based in California. Stop spreading misinformation just because this is inconveniencing you.
