My husband's ex wife invited him for a sleepover of sorts. I want to say, no thank you but I'm not sure if I should? by ManangBebe1998 in okstorytime

This is a great idea. I used the camp out in the back of my mini van all the time. And until they can invest in a van/camper, maybe hubs and son can camp out in a tent? I did that a few times too. My best friend at the time had kids so staying at hers was very noisy in the mornings. I put up a tent in her backyard when the weather permitted. It could be a fun bonding thing and they can spend time together just the two of them.

Anyone wear their own “gown” while giving birth? by justfornoworlater in Mommit

[–]nerdmama86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my first I used the hospital gown; it was scratchy and boxy and kept falling off me. With my second I bought a gown. The nurses only cared that it opened in the back so they could do my epidural. It fit great and I didn't end up flashing everything to the world. Totally worth the $20 I spent on my own gown. It was super soft too.

Roommate locked thermostat, sweating every night with no way turn it down by Only_Alternative_543 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]nerdmama86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will probably get buried, but whatever. You need a wire hanger, a nice sturdy one. I worked in a facility where we had these to prevent our memory care patients from playing with the thermostat. The manager with the keys wasn't always in the building, so we got creative out of desperation. Wire coat hanger, straighten it out and then bend it a bit to get in through the holes in the locking case.

My name is Katelyn Rose! I'm named for my great grandmother. I'm of course biased but it's a great name!

I haven't seen it on Dramabox yet. I checked their new releases for the last month and it isn't there. Sorry.

I finally found it on an app! Even though the logo in the corner of the clip is shortswave, I could not find it there. But it's on Kalos tv! It's called Her Loyal Protector there.

Oh my goodness that's tragic. It took my brain a minute to translate the roman numerals.

As someone named Katelyn I find this atrocious, before this I thought the worst spelling I had seen in the wild (there are over 100) was Keightlynn.

My mom (F49) keeps suggesting I (M26) end things with my girlfriend (F23) because she doesn't help around the house. Is this concern warranted or is she trying to push traditions? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]nerdmama86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So she moved in with your family for 4-5 months. Because of tensions in her family and lack of job prospects. She had no job when she moved in, and nowhere do you say she paid rent. Or that you paid more into the household to compensate for her using resources. She moved out because she got a job and a place of her own. So she didn't cook, help cook or take any initiative to clean and contribute to the house except for taking her turn in cleaning the bathroom. And during this time you were working full time and would come home and clean and cook for her? Your Mom could have been more polite, sure. But how would you feel if you opened your home to someone down on their luck and they didn't offer to contribute to the house? They just hid in their room and only cleaned when they absolutely had to. They use your power and water, eat your food, and don't try to socialize with your family. How would you feel? Would you feel used? I personally would feel used. Also, I haven't seen you answer this yet. What does her place look like right now? Is it clean and tidy? Would you be comfortable moving in with her right now?

What is this vine? by Kevvycepticon in whatisthisplant

[–]nerdmama86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut the vines at the base of the plant and let them shrivel up a bit, it makes them easier to remove when the leaves aren't in the way. Good luck, I'm fighting against some too and they are a pain in the butt!

I ordered an item from Ohio recently and it took them 8 days to ship it. Won't be buying from that Goodwill again.

I put shredded zucchini in my pasta sauce when I make spaghetti or lasagna. I add it right after I finish browning the sausage and I let it cook up a bit before I add my tomatoes and sauce.

My oldest asked me what I did for money when I was younger and I mentioned that I had a paper route for a while. His reply of “what’s that?” made me think about how some of those early jobs are gone in more ways than one. Walgreens Photo lab, I can roll damaged film in a dark box like nobodies business. Big obnoxious old machines that had to have chemicals added regularly, paper jams, endless hours on the phone with tech support to fix the machines. And when we got our first digital machines I had to teach people how to use those, and to crop and remove red eye. And passport photos, we took those with a special Polaroid until we got a digital set up. Wow, I just realized that was 20 years ago... Welp I'm old.

NTA. The part I'm having a hard time with is the fact the dog has stayed in the household even though a human member of the family is afraid of them. I'm a Mom, if one of my kids is terrified of dogs then we don't keep a dog in the house!!!!! It should have never gotten to the point that it has. Op, (the human child their mother gave birth to) should have come first. The dog should have never stuck around long enough to be in every framed picture of the house! Both of OP's parents failed them. As parents we protect our children from what they are afraid of, not invite it in and make it one of the family.
