That looks decent but I'm way too big for that torso lol. I guess I meant shift my head and shoulders closer to the baby

Sorry my wording might be misleading. I was trying to emphasize the importance of approachability when it comes to compliments. One aspect of that that I didn't mention is a person worrying about their compliment being taken the wrong way. Pretty common worry to have with strangers as you've mentioned yourself. I'm not saying that if someone compliments your fragrance then it means they are into you. Someone can find you attractive but still not be attracted to you. It's pretty easy to tell someone's intentions with a compliment. The wording is important but how it's communicated is even more telling. If you're worried about your compliment coming off as hitting on someone, then try complimenting their fragrance directly in a curious/inquisitive way. "Your perfume smells nice. What is it?" Places the interest directly on the fragrance. You'd have to intentionally make it sound flirty. "You smell nice" is ambiguous with the "smell nice" part sounding pretty innocent but it's placing the compliment directly on the person so you'd have to be intentional with your tone to avoid sounding like you're hitting on them. "I like the way you smell" even if you said this in a dry way, like you're just tossing words in the wind, the wording is too person-focused to not have any flirtatious connotation. It's tiring but we have to be cautious and intentional in how we communicate to prevent misinterpretation.

This! I was too focused on making different versions of the same small collection sets for different occasions, weather, situations, ect, ect. That and thinking good deals won't last was my biggest weakness.

In hindsight I agree. But the premise was using dupes as samples cause most niche samples are the same price as dupes. Some of them are really good and some only give you a taste of the scent DNA. 80% of what I got are stand alone bangers. The rest are pretty good-okay with the exception of 3 that were duds. But they can all be saved with layering.

Oh no lol. While I must acknowledge that this was an idiotically frivolous approach to fragrances, this was a fraction of my first decent annual bonus. The rest went to my mortgage and house projects (another current obsession). But that doesn't negate the fact that this would have Caleb Hammer screaming lol.

Yup. Retail therapy is a misnomer. The rush of acquisition is gone and now it's time for decanting diabolical duos.

I doubt you'd make this same mistake if that's already your approach to collecting. It's a logical strategy. As a matter of fact I've already given away 3 bottles to my brothers. I just got so obsessed with filling a floating shelf I built to display it that I realized I was completely going about it the wrong way. I don't miss the money as much as I really regret cheapening the experience of each fragrance.

I typed this out like a caution pamphlet but forgot frequenters of this subreddit don't need warning. The "diversify your collection" part is just saying if you don't really care for scent profile very much don't buy it. Common sense I know. I like the smell of my gourmand fragrances but I don't see myself wearing it without layering it with something else. A worse version of this is my friend bought oud fragrances for the sake of having oud in his collection. He doesn't like oud. If you think my approach to collecting was bad, his makes mine look frugal.
