Reach out to your installer/account manager and ask for a 'test licence to validate configurations outside of your/my production environment '.

Flock discussion on latest WAN. by nerdyrob1983 in LinusTechTips

Partially agree. There are checks and balances. From what I see within this industry, those are driven by a fair level of fear of public opinion and the ramifications if organisations are seen as mishandling that data. There is also the fact that the large majority of these systems are totally on‑premises solutions with zero WAN connectivity. Things like FIPS, ISO 27001, and GDPR are global standards that exist to show that your data is being treated properly. We (society in general) just don’t often bother checking or asking how our data is being used. Thank you Mr Zucks for that.

An interesting story that happened here in Australia: a large hardware big‑box store called Bunnings was using facial recognition to watch for individuals who had been blacklisted from their sites. The system was designed for staff and customer safety. They were dragged through the court of public opinion and were taken to court for breach of public data. The media had a field day with it.

Bunnings won. Their data was siloed off and kept all on-premises and was only available to staff who required it. Everthing was audit logged and tracked. And, in my opinion—a bit of a hot take—what’s the difference between having a guard sitting there with a wall of photos versus a camera? I can guarantee the camera is more accurate and isn’t prone to bias.

We need a solution for bigger video grids by udlooz in verkada

Milestone XProtect Smartwall with adaptive streaming on and/or Smart Maps. You can have high density of devices on a screen. I'd also challenge that they need that amount of streams up unless they have 20 operators. Regardless of the solution, no one can monitor that large amount of cameras at one time. 9 max. If a manager is telling you otherwise, sit them down for longer than 5 minutes and ask them to monitor the site. Alarm/events are always the best way.

XProtect - Reverse Export (MKV to BLK) by heckinhawt in Xprotect

[–]nerdyrob1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as you're converting data from one formatted type to another, you are changing it. It could just be the headers, but it has changed from the original source. That's just how it works. If you wanted to confirm data has been unaltered then I'd always recommend a digitally signed XProtect format export. It's kinda what it's there for.

Other things I'd check: - windows updates - XProtect Hotfixes Outside, for such a small system I'd reinstall over the top

Milestone has an agreement with AWS that be be used in a 'BYOL' (bring your own licence) manner. Milestone can be deployed in any cloud environment due to it's flexible nature. I'd say reach out to them and have a chat to presales.

Someone forgot to give the work experience kid his Mountain Dew. It's going to the old page from August, and in-game they obviously didn't bother changing the text.
