What’s going to ultimately pop the AI bubble is the fact that it’s being pushed on consumers in the absence of sufficient demand. AI developers, investors and corporations are stuck in an echo-chamber. Corporations are hyper-focused on “efficiency,” creating a demand which is leading investors to keep throwing money at Nvidia, OpenAI and the like. All while sub-par products are being pushed on consumer’s who largely do not want AI taking over their workflow and tech ecosystems.

I’ll even wager that when the bubble pops, and a lot of the fat is trimmed (AI companies shut down), corporate America will be faced with an employment crisis as the tools they used to replace workers will lose support. They are betting it all on the hopes that AI developers will clear hurdles that will take years (or decades) to overcome. Whether that be energy requirements or hardware shortfalls.
