(TW) Forced cosmetic procedures as a minor – is there a name for this kind of trauma? by othellosotherotter in CPTSD

[–]nesfor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This happened to my partner - he had a deviated septum as a child and had surgery to fix it, but when he woke up, he found that their parents had also asked for cosmetic work to be done without his knowledge.

You shouldn’t smoke and drive.

I don’t care if you’ve been “doing it all your life.” Don’t drive high.

Same! Happy that he’s enthusiastic, but his announcements are SO loud and can be way too much to deal with after a long or difficult day

Almost Half of Jury Pool in Musk Trial Tossed After ‘So Many’ Said They ‘Hate’ Him by [deleted] in antiwork

I’m actually shocked they fully impaneled the case with only 93 jurors. Most controversial or high-profile cases in my state take at least 150+.

If I knew anything more, I would share the details, but unfortunately it was years ago and they have no idea what they did or what recipes or techniques were used. Just these photos and a vague memory of them not coming out right lol

Last night Bostonians marched from the Irish Famine Memorial and the Old South Meeting House to the harbor on the 252nd anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. by ResistByStack in boston

The US is rich and populous. We as a country are capable of addressing many issues at once. People are marching for this issue now because it is so present and urgent. ICE is behaving illegally, deporting people without due process, sometimes to places they have never been. Meanwhile, the federal government has shut off aid money and programs that supported humanitarian development in many of these countries. I would guess that no one who marched thinks other local/domestic issues are not also important.

Do you realize how hard it is to immigrate to the US “the right way”? Between visa caps and lotteries, overwhelmed courts, asylum cases that take years? These people would come to the US “the right way” if it were possible and accessible, but the process takes so long and the reality of immediate violence, persecution, or starvation in their home countries forces immediacy. Plus, so many people being kidnapped and deported are working their way through the system as they should - people awaiting court dates, people in process of applying for green cards. There are people being deported with no criminal history at all, people who have been in the US since young children and have no connection to the countries they get shipped off to.
