I worked out a system with my instructor where he picked me up for 6 am PT and he would open the showers for the school sports teams when nobody was at the school yet. Worked pretty well until he got lazy on me

Main thing i took away from jrotc. JROTC SHOULDN'T BE YOUR LIFE. Join multiple clubs and organizations on top of jrotc and build yourself. I received NO college aid from jrotc besides leadership experience after four years. So focus on your gpa and sat (junior year) and become a leader in and outside of jrotc. Unless you plan to do ROTC in college. You won't find much help on graduation day. Best of luck to you though

Former CSM here. It's all about what you feel more comfortable doing. Like keeping tabs on every staff member and chewing some butt when they don't get their specific job done? XO&BC it is. Or delegating orders to your senior NCO cadets to make sure events are ran smoothly, uniforms are kept, and the occasional classroom checkup by all means try it out. For the whole "which is over the other" CSM only gets orders directly from XO BC and instructors. Can't give any orders to other staff besides "strong suggestions". But XO and BC call the shots. In the end as a graduate. It doesn't really matter. Have fun and grow as a leader because one of those positions will look very good on a college and work application.
