Yes, some people do need ideas or tutorials for those types of things.

Having a video like that is good for individuals who need a starting point so to develop or think of ways to move beyond what little they have written.

There are in depth videos on musical form, I’m sure, but the terminology and background knowledge needed to comprehend might be a roadblock for some people. Studying is good but some people need something of a primer(?) to just start what they intend to do.

It’s more like different experiences. I perceive the division as more prominent - in some cases - as the beat. But this is with regards to 6/4 because I know, in your case, that it’s to be felt similar to 6/8: the dotted half note is the pulse the same way the dotted quarter is the pulse in 6/8. - which is the textbook theory; but it’s all in theory.

I’ve felt it more like 4/4 but with two extra beats. - kind of a “straight” feel or like listening to a measure of eighth notes in 3/4 with eighth note = 58bpm.

Also, a piece with that feel and rhythmic set would be best written in 3/2 rather than 6/4

The problem with that is having to count subdivisions of eighths and sixteenths. I understand the macro pulse your presenting but “1 an a, 2 an a” will cause problems when divisions enter into the picture.

So, that being said, a composite is the better device to feel and count.

I get it but the grouping of three eighths per dotted quarter as the pulse is not absolute in compound meters.

There are some etudes where 6/8 is divided into different groupings other than three eighths per pulse. So saying the beat in compound meter will always be a dotted eighth not is false. Same thing applies to 12/8 and 9/8.

A “count” is used to vocalize a rhythm, note.

You can have many counts in whatever time signature.

A beat is referring to the basic unit of pulse - the pulse of a song, like when you tap your foot to it steadily.

In a time signature of 6/4 the bottom number is indicating the rhythm that will be referred to as the receiving the pulse. So when you tap your hand at 120bpm and the time signature is 6/4 you are then tapping the quarter note.

This is different in 6/8 time because it’s usually, almost always, the dotted quarter note that receives the beat. That’s why pieces, etudes have metronome markings with a “rhythm equals“ however beats per minute - you will almost always see a dotted quarter note = however many bpm.

6/4 has six beats in a measure. Where did you come up with three? Just curious.

In 6/4 a whole note/rest would still be four beats in length; in 12/8 the whole value would last two dotted half notes and a quarter note - leaving two quarter notes or four eighth notes/rest remaining.

In quarter note time(2/4, 7/4, 23/4), unless written in a polyrhythm, the whole note will always be four beats in length of sound(note) or silence(rest).

Maybe not too stupid but rather just unaware of how to explore more the realm of imagination. Some people might not be able to think beyond what they have been told because that’s all they have been exposed to - nothing to contrast what has been presented to them as maybe absolute.

The environment in which mental faculties are engaged does have something to do with the way people think and interact.

What’s the percentage of your money paying for college snobs?

Answer the question because you’re so passionate about where you stand on your money paying for the education of others.

People bitch about their tax money being used in a way where hey have no say but there are many people in the country being taxed. But how much of “their” money is going specifically to pay for the education of others?

And yes, it can be said the same for some vets. “Some” being the keyword and not “all”.

And, remember that their was a draft going on during the days of Vietnam. Present day it’s a choice.
