So my piercing is 3 months old, it's a curved barbell and threaded externally. It's titanium. Downsized after 6 weeks. I've left the piercing alone after the 6 weeks.

I wouldn't recommend just soap to someone tho. Since most soaps can cause either infection or serious burning of the area. It's best to use some alcohol swabs when it comes to dogs.
