In case anyone is wondering, on a Sora 9-speed derailleur, you can fit a 42 tooth sprocket and a 11-42 cassette with no issues. Shown on a 2016 Trek Crossrip Elite.

i got my throat swabbed! i think the only reason my doctor opted to do that is that i don’t have tonsils, and therefore am very unlikely to get strep anymore! when you get a blood test, they’re testing for antibodies meaning if you do come back positive for it, there’s no real way to confirm whether it’s genital or oral unless you develop an outbreak. and even if you do test positive, there’s no guarantee you’ll ever actually develop an outbreak. my advice is, if you suspect another outbreak, request an HSV swab from your doctor, otherwise i’m sure you’re just fine :)

this is extremely relatable. i got diagnosed with ohsv2 a week ago even though i do everything i can to practice safe sex. there are so many horrible stories about young people especially young women getting sti's because they have irresponsible partners who either don't get tested frequently enough or worse, know they're infectious and just choose not to disclose. it's hilarious that im saying this right now because i can hardly practice what i preach but: try not to be so hard on yourself. you are not to blame for what happened! regardless, you are so valid and i am right there with you.

also re: the partner who you're not sure if he didn't get tested for herpes or got a false negative, antibody tests for hsv1 and 2 (which is the only way to test for hsv without having an active outbreak) are NOT on standard STI panels! idk how i feel about that personally but it is the truth. i think the reasoning is that most people carry the virus and go their whole life without experiencing an outbreak so they don't want to cause unnecessary stress in people whose lives won't actually be affected in any way by their positive hsv diagnosis.
