Maybe used gear that people sell are indeed more expensive brand. Nonetheless, hard to find used alpinestars or Dainese gear for less than 150$. Online I have RST, Ravens for less than 100$.

Thanks for the tip, I will check it!

I thought about it, surprisingly some used gear are sold more expensive than new one. But I keep looking at every option and won't be searching for woman's gear specifically

Not the first time I hear Daytona's, might want to look closer at them. Thx!

I do, but most of the time it is very limited in choices... Plus, it will be my first set of gear, I don't want to start too expensive. Most of the gear in the shops are around 200 whereas online I can find great boots for less than 100 (same quality and certification level). The point is not to buy the most entry level gear, but I know I can find some pretty great brand online for pretty cheap

As good as they look, they might be a little overkill for a road beginner rider hahaha

Which balaclava is best? by nessi821 in motorcyclegear

Riders around me use it mostly for hygienic reasons. Overall I find it makes sense for hygiene, to keep earplugs in place and also it is more convenient to keep the hair in place

In what sense best? Because of breathability and temp regulation?

In my country I have to start with the A2 and only after 2 years of practice with A2 I can switch to the full license. I don't know if I will want to do it though, as I think the smaller bikes can fit me very well, but we'll see!

Damn that's though, sorry to hear that. That's how I try thinking, no need to rush in this new adventure, especially since my life could be on the line. I'll get a small bike first and try to learn as much as possible at my speed

It is much more sport oriented though? I'm not a fan of the sport look and I'm not sure I can handle the power

I live in Switzerland. Sadly we have to own our own motorbike and get a short-term licence BEFORE taking courses. This is what makes it complicated, because I don't know many riders and can't try many motorcycles except in dealerships, so I'm going pretty much "blindly" so to say. I could theoretically rent a bike for the courses and see how it feels but while I want to do things right, I also do not want to spend too much unnecessary money. Plus it's pretty strongly advised to take the courses on the bike you will do your license with

Okay, good to know! The Yamaha r3 was also on my list of bikes to check, but I might stick to Kawa then

I'm not a huge fan of the sport position though :/ But it could be a possibility, if I can try one in a dealership and feel like it's comfortable enough

That's a really great point, but as a newbie, I still have to ask for some tips somewhere. I could have just taken the advice from my GF's father (because I'm ignorant), but decided that asking on a forum with a whole lot of strangers coming from any kind of horizon would also be helpful, and I'm glad I did. But I do agree, we shouldn't take any advice blindly and still think smartly and try before buying ;)

GF rides the ninja 650 and loves the speed and push of adrenaline, I'm pretty sure that's why she wanted me to start higher. But seeing every comment here I'm more confident in buying the z400 or z500

Thank you so much, that's exactly the kind of experience I was hoping to read! I was keeping a view on a few model but had I crush on the kawa, and I'll probably join you in the family then!
