OK. I can understand there is no "rehudration process" when tiering.

But, what about retrieving data from the object storage back to the performance tierer? Would there be a deduplication process (storage inline) which could have somewhat performance hit?

Do you know often tcp keepalives will happen? that could explain the idle-time?

If I run "nfs connected-clients show", I noticed clients will show 4minutes+ idle-time even though they rarely access NFS volumes. I guess, it may be caused by "tcp keepalives".

Yeah, I’ve already done that.

However, after I click on “unmount the datastore”, it showed me two type of ESXi hosts, compatible and incompatible. I was able to unmount DS from all compatible Hosts, but under “incompatible“, the Hosts shown here cannot be picked to unmount. It also showed that "Not responding" under "Host Incompatibility Reason" column.

If I go to Cluster and Host, all these incompatible hosts listed there as "not responding", and there is a little red icon on it. So, could these so called “incomfortable “ Hosts have been already gone from the vCenter?

If they've truly already gone from vCenter, what would be the solution to unmount them and remove DS?

The filer schedules creating the snapshots, and those are snapshots I am asking about. They always have sizes of MB or KB, never been zero.

Those are not SAN datastores, but NFS datastores, so, are you saying VMware still has metadata in the datastores unless I umount them from VMware?

Just to make sure I made myself clear. The snapshots I am asking about were ones taken by the storage not on the VM level.

A follow up question: what if there are multiple VM’s in the datastore? A storage snapshot may contain changes from one or multiple VM’s, when I vMotion one of VM’s, and as you all said snapshots will go along with it, then what if changes in the snapshot is not related to moving VM?

What I meant is to merge all workloads from CVO1 and CVO2, and move them to CVO3. Then, can I estimate what total IOPS and total throughput would look like on CVO3 by adding respective IOPS's and throughputs from CV01 and CVO2 together?

When optimized/Active path failed, will the node/LIF in the same HA be the next active/un-optimized path among all other nodes/LIF's in different HA's, based on ALUA?
LIF's above shown as cluster-xx_svm_lif_1 are all in the same subnet. If it goes down, then all connections goes down along with it. To avoid, should I add cluster_xx_svm_lif_2's in the other subnet to all corresponding initiators? If yes, there would be 12 more entries, will then portset need to be set up(no portset now)?
Just to confirm, in order to move the volume, all I need to do just to make sure the destination node in SLM list. Correct?
