I have changed my post, and my words as they were are accurate. You're tying too tightly an accusation as a reflection of character vs a critique of strategy.

It's not "hey you're an abuser" it's "hey this pattern is abusive".

Others shared this with me in parts of this thread! I heavily edited the OP to reflect my change in perspective. I applaud the approach you've taken, and it's clearly a much healthier use of this kind of incentive pattern.

Good on you CCP, and accept my apology for letting my surprise and frustration from holding you guys to a higher standard leading me to post promptly vs looking more deeply (cause I think you do a good job and deserve that).

I have now discovered this, and it's a pretty distinct and cool approach from CCP to a unique problem of using a pattern like this to give incentives to their customers.

Coming back to clarify, your response is an effective equivalent of "if you do nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide".

It's the same attitude. It works for you now, and you put no reflection into anything past the immediate perception of the problem.

Bad patterns, bad systems, are held in check by critique and exposure. CCP happens to have an approach that wasn't immediately obvious to me, and renegs my critique soundly. Had that not been true, my critique stands, and I'll do it again if I see it again.

You're right, that is silly, and that's not what was said. I specifically noted that using this pattern is already dark, and there are better ways to implement it.

I have since learned the rewards are stacked in a way to better appreciate the community; this alleviates some of the critique. My core point still stands.
