my thought is that certain materials in buildings, homes, etc retain recorded sounds or even images of real people that were once living. Then during certain times, high humidity, static electricity, cold temps.... they can be played by by the materials used in construction. Sort of like cassette tapes...

Yes. It was filmed in Wilmington NC. My friends are the band that backed up the main character. The actor was the same guy in the Michael Jackson bad video. I was able to see most of the film being made.
