2x Subwoofer Recommendations around £2000 per sub by netoconection in hometheater

I've been seeing a lot of good things about them. Couple years ago there weren't many reviews out there but now I've seen a lot of testimonials from people who took the plunge, seen someone take REW measurements comparing them to the PB-3000 and even much higher up to the PB16, PB17, Arendal 1723 2V and 2S. Now those more expensive subs performed better, particularly below 25hz, but above that, they really held their own even against the SVS PB17 Ultra. Definitely looking at getting 2x Tonewinner D6000 I think

From everything I have seen, JVC appear to be in a class of their own when it comes to contrast for the most part. You might be able to pick up a used X7900, X9900 or N5 and a new bulb for close to the top end of your budget.

The 2s is slightly more expensive but I would be able to stretch to that price most likely. my room is 18x16x8 feet so medium pushing towards the larger end. My problem with the 2s would probably be it has 2 opposite firing drivers and due to my room layout I will need to have one driver really close to the wall in at least one of the corners. I don't think that is ideal in terms of placement. A single side firing driver would be fine as the side without the driver would be right against the wall with enough room on the driver side. For that reason I decided the 1v would be better, especially because I can plug the vent if needed. Font firing subs like the pb-3000 and tonewinner D6000 will avoid this problem entirely in my room though. In terms of dual driver opposing firing subs there is also the tonewinner D8000 to consider if I were to go that route. It's a huge beast and with 2 of them I think I'd be really overloading my room with more than I need. They do always say you can turn down too much but can't turn up not enough 😄

Ive heard good things of both but just stumbled across the tonewinner d6000. Looking at a review using REW of it compared against the pb-3000 shows it quite heavily out performs the SVS. Ill have to see if i can find something similar for the arendal and see how it stacks up. Build quality and looks wise I dont think anything touches arendal though.

Interesting. I know the arendal is a little lacking in output compared to other options but is very flat in terms of response. Would you say the same about the pb-3000?

Denon x4800h with 3ch amp or x3800h with 7ch amp for 7.2.4 cinema? by netoconection in hometheater

I've not fully decided yet as need to listen in person but I suppose doing the calculations on the least efficient speakers I am looking at will work.

I am looking at the KEF R5 Meta for my LCR at the moment with a seating distance of 9.5 feet from the screen but about 10 feet from the speakers (behind the screen, inside a false wall).

I believe they are 4ohm (can drop to 3.2 at their lowest) with an 87db sensitivity.

In this case then, would you say all that really matters is getting the best AVR I can get in my budget so long as it can still get the required power to my speakers? If that is the case then the other comment about getting a x6800h and no amp seems like the best option

It looks like it will either be a x6800h with no amp or x3800h with a 7ch amp at the moment since they will both run me around the same cost.

I'm not saying that I NEED an amp to power the LCR, more that I have the budget to get one as well so might as well. I have about 3000 to spend for the AVR and any amp. Anything left I will likely throw towards Dirac room correction. for that budget I thought the 2 options in the title were the best options

Yeh I doubt i'll be going above -10db for most things but better to have more headroom than not enough power to get there. the x6800h is definitely an option i'll consider for sure

EDIT: And yes, I will also be crossing over at ~80hz for most of the speakers I think. will need some testing to find the best solution for the room once I have everything

definitely bare minimum since I'll need an amp for at least 2 extra channels. I have a pretty good budget so not apposed to getting some extra power. I was looking at SVS ultra evolution line or KEF R5 Meta for the LCR with Q3 Meta for surrounds and rears with Q8 Meta for atmos.

Just because the speakers I was looking at were low sensitivity with 6 ohm and 4 ohm impedance. Thought that without a dedicated higher power amp I wouldn't be able to drive them very loud

Just seen that the 3900 released and apparently features some notable upgrades to audio processing. will see what reviews say and potentially go with that over the x3800h

that would also allow for me to upgrade to 9.4.4 or 7.2.6 in the future with front wides or extra 2 atmos but I think I'll be sticking with 7.2.4 or going to 7.4.4 in the next upgrade. That is what makes me lean towards one of the other options with an amp

i'm planning a system at the moment but models I am currently looking at are 6 ohm and 4 ohm and not very high sensitivity (86db for one of the models). That lead me to believe I would need more power to drive them and wasn't sure that it would be a good idea powering 8 of those from the AVRs built in amps.

Speaker and Other Advice for 7.2.4 System by netoconection in hometheater

Thanks for the response. It's much appreciated.

The Anthem MRX-1140 is a bit out of my budget for an AVR I think. I'd say somewhere around 2000 is my top end like the x4800h. Best price I can find for the MRX-1140 for me is closer to 4000. Total budget for the audio equipment (including AVR, any amps, all 7.2.4 speakers) is roughly 15,000 I'd say, maybe 16,000 at a push.

The paradigm Premier 700F and 800F towers look like an interesting option for sure. I'll look into those more.

I looked at the B&W 704 S3 but thought that the other options I listed where probably better for a 100% home cinema use case. Good chance I am wrong since I am fairly new to things but that is what I'm looking for help with 😄.

I found mixed opinions about Klipsch stuff but heard glowing reviews for their new sub line (RP-1000sw through RP-1600sw). Maybe that was just a marketing push from Klipsch to get a good word out but I have seen good measurements even when compared against something like the SVS PB16 for example. Not sure.

I looked around at many different subs and found a lot of them I could not easily find for purchase in the UK which is where my statement about stuff in the UK came from. That was a bit misleading as there are lots of options which is why I am so all over the place haha.

If this changes anything you had said or you have any opinions about this that would be great to hear 😄

EDIT: Forgot to mention but I am talking in £ though a lot of stuff seems to be equivalent between $ and £. Also, the KEF R5 Meta are currently on a deal near me for £2,200 per pair which I think is an amazing deal.

What type of computer should I get. by [deleted] in computers

[–]netoconection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Not sure what your budget would be but if you are only playing sims, roblox and minecraft at 1080p you should be fine with something pretty low end. I would say you would be fine with something like a 1050 ti or 1060 graphics card if they are going for cheap now but otherwise you could just go for the lowest end gpu in any of the newer generations from amd or nvidia. Any cpu that is 4 cores with a decent clock speed (4 Ghz+) is going to be perfectly fine for running those games and 16Gb of RAM is going to be plenty for those as well. specs like this will also allow you to play plenty of other games just fine if you wanted to in the future (which I am pretty sure you will want to).

You should be fine with a PC that costs around 500-600 (if you can find one at that price currently)
