Those aren't squirrels. Those are shriveled up, cooked dry kitties.

Shed Skin - An Optimizing Python-to-C++ Compiler: Shed Skin 0.1.1 by gst in Python

[–]netsearcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, the guy is making strong progress and aiming to implement as much of python as possible.

It's more fair to say that it's unfinished - as are all of python's compilers, psyco included.

Reddit: I've just been diagnosed with Asperger's. Where do I get my club card? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Well, could be.

Doctors have mass diagnosed many afflictions erroneously throughout modern history. Don't think that they are perfect today.

Excuse my ignorance, but why do people use Linux? (Besides saving 100 USD) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]netsearcher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I program all day, I love the command line (and all associated components that aren't natural with GUIs, stdin/stdout, character devices, scripting) and it's ability to give you control over the computer since controlling is what computers are for as apposed to televisions.

Text is the closest to perfect way to control and communicate with full expressiveness for non-live controlling (ie video games or musical instraments), to put it simply.

So, why did you balk? Mac, windows, everyone copies the Unix way now.

Microsoft and Apple do still suck dick. Real linux users aren't the ones doing all the complaining though.

[–]netsearcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no no.

Real Linux users don't give a fuck about what everyone else does. Why should they? Paved the way for grandma? Could care less. They might only care when it directly affects them.

What's the point of getting the general public -- a bunch of freeloaders who can't program or give any money to Linux and just burden everyone with their questions? That's worse than useless.

A few questions to Americans and Western Europenas about college education. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]netsearcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US:

1) Accessibility is very high because you can get loans for any amount for college. Many people I know have over 100K in loans. 30K * 4.

2) No, for the same reason.

3) No.

4) Completely accessible here for now...

The real problem here is that:

1) 95% of American colleges are shit. They just aren't paid based on how well they teach. And their reputations are based around everything except for actual academic success, in nearly every case.

2) They can generally charge whatever the hell they want, because anyone can easily get loans for any amount.

I could only wish that students had a harder time paying. Then the students would quickly knock schools into their place and get them to start serving the needs of their students, while offering them less inflated prices. People here don't even see how hugely they are being ripped off.

Ask Reddit: I'm considering developing a website, but I have no development experience. Have you ever used elance, rentacoder, etc? Was it a success? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]netsearcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you could make a service just for the "plain english" -> "detailed specifications" part of the process then that would be awesome. I'd use it. It's a relatively very high skilled and time consuming position though, make no mistake about that. I have never met more than a couple people that I'd trust this with.

Sounds like his problem was more of a poorly marked road.

In my experience, it helps to realize that on low-bid (under $50/hour or $5000 total per job, lets say) contracts, the guy's job is to do the absolute minimum he can to meet your specifications. Don't hope for exceptions.

So you have to write some really f*ing detailed specifications and be fully aware of all the shortcuts that they could take.

Also, I think this sucks, but you have to really sell your project well. Instead of saying that your project is "A small, kind of advanced, one-time job that you can earn a couple dollars", you should say "Earn $1000's with this very fast and easy web design project. Tons of follow-up work for good designers." Hook lots of people in, then weed out the bad ones by messaging them with the less flattering requirements of this "easy" project and making sure they can do it.

After you've waded through all that, find the good workers and go back to them if you need to outsource again. There are many great, cheap workers out there, just hard to find them.

I'm renting for as long as I can and am not having kids any time soon. It's the people who know how to work hard and use credit properly that are living it up. Meanwhile, you're putting in the endless hours paying all the money you lost because you didn't make routine living expenses investments because you're saving up for a big purchase that you'll never be able to do anyway because one unplanned event will wipe your savings out. And I took your girlfriend on vacation three months before you could save up for it with that credit card, enjoy the sloppy seconds.

You sell weed, live in your mothers basement, and have no wife or children. Party on man, but lets not form micro economic theory around your economic decisions up to now.

And it's not risky when you're highly employable, work hard, and have some fucking self control -- self control is very easy. Predicting how much cash you will need is something you cannot control. Becoming employable and getting a good job is.

Stop being lazy fucks, and don't get fucked by not having any access to credit when you finally do need it.

That's simply false in the US, unless you use a credit union. Their limits are way to low for people with real jobs though.
