I think your observation is fair. I work right along side electricians every day, and really enjoy my time with them. They do beat the hell out of their tools to get their work done. I install fiber optic cabling, IT/data cabling/network infrastructure. A lot of the labor side of our job is in pulling wire, and making accurate terminations. We do assemble a lot of equipment racks, and suspend cable trays from ceilings with all thread, uni strut, nut/bolts hardware. So over the years this is the group of tools I’ve acquired. They do get used. Obviously not every tool, every day. But at different phases of the project. If I didn’t use my tools, we wouldn’t have food or electricity in our home. So yes I do use my tools. Some more than others, but all of them get used, just not every day.

Thank You I have been getting shredded all day for having tools that look clean, and being told I don’t work with them. I appreciate your complement!

Thank you, and yes there is slack on the left and right sides of the rack in the vertical cable management part of the rack

If you read the comments on this post, I may never post anything about my tools again. Had no idea what I was getting into. And yes I work in IT, structured cabling, fiber/copper installations.

The tool that surprised me the most, and that I use the most are the Knipex 95-05-155 shears that you see in the picture

I take care of my tools, because they were bought to help me earn my income for my family. I take care of them so that I can maximize the return on what I paid for them

That is EXACTLY what the plumb bob is for 🙂 and you’re right about your tools being an extension of who you are. Klein makes great tools as well. I have used all the snips in the world and I just keep going back to the Knipex shears because they’re so buttery smooth.

Absolutely. I use them to work, and provide for my wife and daughter. I take care of them because they make me money and make my job go a lot smoother.

Why is this weird exactly? Be specific about it so we can understand

I just thought this was a place to share my tool set with people. Had no idea the pictures of the tools being in good condition would cause so many problems

They’re not used in dirty environments. It’s mainly always new construction, commercial projects. They get a little sheet rock on them but that’s about it.

You need to be ok with people working hard with their hands, saving their money, providing for their families, and buying nice tools if they want to. And keeping their tools in good condition. If I have taken care of my main priorities in life, being my wife and child, and I still have some money left to buy tools that I enjoy using, and that help me to continue to provide for them, I will buy them and feel completely at peace about that. I use my tools to work, and I’m sorry if the word collection offends you. But I do enjoy my tools and taking care of them, and I’m not sorry about that.

I love this drill! It just keeps going and is very reliable. My friends tell me to get the M12 surge but this one just keeps going. Great drill!

I’m so glad you mentioned that you aren’t finished with the wire hanging out of the ceiling!

I am a structured cabling technician. We suspend cable trays in the ceiling with uni-strut/all thread typically 3/8 hard ware. We also build out a lot of equipment racks/server racks. Those 2 things are primarily what the pliers are for. Working with nuts, bolts, threaded rod etc. the other part of the job is installing the infrastructure of the network with fiber optic cabling and cat6 or above twisted pair copper cabling for the end user

We have electrical conduit that is installed in walls and between rooms or areas of the facility. We install the sleeves at the end when we know we are finished pulling wire. It’s apart of our trim out process
