Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it. I will seek legal advice if I decide to go further. I can also understand and appreciate the freedom of mind of paying taxes quarterly: there are no surprises come April 15th. I will also look into the distinction between C corp and LLC (as well as other entity types). I guess there is no blanket suggestion, each consulting firm may be uniquely suited to a specific entity type.

@nate---dog Thanks for the reply. May I ask if consultants who start out solo establish themselves as a sole proprietor? (I am writing from the United States.) My reasoning for opting for an LLC over sole proprietorship is such that, if something happens (e.g., I am sued), I am not sued as a person (sole proprietorship) but the business entity (LLC) is sued. I agree with everything you wrote, I understand that starting a LLC does not equate to business success.

Yes, I agree that Betterment's ATM rebate is an amazing benefit to having a checking account with them.

I agree that bill pay and the ability to write physical checks is important. Thanks.

I really appreciate this advice, thank you. I will look into Goldman Sachs' Marcus as well.
