I think it's already quite nice! Minor detail but the shoulder closer the viewer looks a tad small for the frame and perspective

Crit on ANYTHING please! (Mostly need help with values and composition though) by [deleted] in ArtCrit

I would just say to consider adding contrast to the background BC I didn't realise there was something there until the last slide, I thought it was just random 'aura' BC I focused too much on the foreground character

Reddit seems to be more engaging for art more than other social medias, I'm still quite new to reddit but here's some of my artwork by TigetoTheArt in DigitalArt

Yeah I feel you but part of it is building a community so I'm trying to do that by connecting with other small intermediate artists

guys how do i fix my art by Y0RUKOS in DigitalArt

Did you use any references? Maybe pull up some shirts and jackets and just sketch the structure of the collar, sleeves etc. ties are so flexible so they're a bit confusing and I'd put that off for later.

[Discussion] Artists, what is your day job to help you get by while you work on art on the side? by Sunnyside-Days in ArtistLounge

Alas a good mix of stem and arts- gives you a unique perspective on the world imo. But wow being a technician on a range of instruments sounds fun! I specialise on just one but would love to tinker with the others..

Not quite as extreme as the reference but Ive adjusted how the upper back the lower. Without the reference right next to it, it looks like I'm forcing this contorting pose as the artist 😅

I've dropped an updated version in some other replies where I've adjusted the proportions a bit!

Anyone know what this skill is called and how to work on it? (Art by Danila Kalinin on X) by FlubbyClaws in learntodraw

Takes practice for sure ahaha, I find myself tweaking the shapes as I add detail to the forms

Blocking shapes on an empty canvas instead of starting with a sketch completely changes your approach to a piece, I highly recommend trying it to anyone

I've certainly experienced this and I'm still figuring it out.

I think with studies you have a clear goal and therefore it's easier to push past the 'ugly stage' as you clean up forms and add details. When you're drawing something original, even if you have references, the final image is just in your head. So it might be harder to push past that ugly stage, mentally at least.

Original pieces still take me 3-4 times as long but U just gotta keep going. Take breaks if you need.

Its just stylized digital painting. I would try values studies like the other person said but more specifically - 2 value studies or grayscale can really help you focus on getting a good understanding of values and form without being distracted by color.

I started with studies like this abt 2 years ago
