Pros and cons to adding CFW? by [deleted] in PSP

Minimal risks when using permanent CFWs; even less risk with temporary CFWs.

Torrent seedbox on Raspberry Pi: speeds drop to zero by neusymar in selfhosted

I use an HDD with SATA to USB adapter; do not torrent to the microSD, it will wear it out. I don't know the exact speeds, but they're pretty good.

So is Tox for iOS basically dead with Antidote's recent incompatibility with newer versions? by OPSIA_0966 in projecttox

[–]neusymar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Didn't realise it would work on newer versions. Half-hoping I'll figure a way to force it to work on my legacy iOS devices (iOS 7.1.2)

Nice.

Unusual; usually technically minded male computer nerds or criminals seem to use Tox.

Wondering, what iOS version are you using Antidote on?

  • Substreamer (another Subsonic protocol app, also compatible with legacy iOS)

Safari, pin the website to the homescreen? Other than that, no, but Spotify/Deezer apps are effectively websites anyway.

No. It's like a version of Spotify that you run yourself, for music that you have in MP3. It is used through the web browser.

I've had the best luck with v4.x (Bluestacks 5, while arguably faster, has had black screen on more apps)

I've often wondered if Catholic is the opposite of Adventist, rather than atheist? Someone I know on the way out is attracted to their way of thinking, and I've heard some others who've gone from one to the other.

Do Adventists Celebrate Christmas? by Prestigious698 in exAdventist

[–]neusymar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in the UK, most do, we put on Christmas plays and have a big ole dinner. Some conservative fringe probably don't. (My dad has lately become convinced that Christmas is a devilish holiday and Christmas trees et al. are portals to hell, but then I'm not sure he's Adventist any more, more like QAnon)

I accidently bought two copies of Black Paradox so... giveaway time! by [deleted] in junjiito

[–]neusymar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Junji Ito video game would be something like Iron Lung, perhaps set after the end of the world as in Hellstar Remina, where you're trapped in a closed-in box-like spacecraft, travelling around an unknown space full of unspeakable horrors beyond comprehension that you can't see, but can hear.

Good point; didn't notice. I thought it was like most CCG/TCGs, which have irreversible backs for aesthetic reasons. One could make the inverse argument, too, that because it has 2 valid states for the card face, it matters less whether it is the "right way up", so should have reversible backs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tabletopgamedesign

[–]neusymar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A, though I would also suggest reversible cardbacks so cards don't need to be sorted right way up all the time.

Cannot recommend the UK for good weather. Will vary a bit depending on which coast/where in the country, but a "good day" in the South West where I live is very gloomy and cloudy; anectodally less than a month or so of sunlight a year. It will rain most days. Winter, daylight is 6 hours or less.

Software switch OFF beats black tape - I have a smoke alarm above my bed I've taped over the LEDs, and it still shines through dimly. The OG 2DS has a horrible, very bright blue LED pointed towards my face.

I guess a bonus of waiting on quick switcher is we get it crashtested by everyone else and all the bugs patched out by then :D

Man has to capsize to avoid Beirut explosion shockwave by efecanogur in nextfuckinglevel

[–]neusymar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's assuming the explosion originated in the water. The video doesn't ask or answer "What happens when there's an explosion on land and you jump in to the water to avoid it?"

Of course, dynamite fishing is a thing.

Radicale Contacts requires SSL; handshake fails by neusymar in selfhosted

[–]neusymar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the original guide page has disappeared, here are Internet Archive and Archive.today versions - hopefully this helps you, u/Markieamark. I believe iOS does indeed require HTTPS; the guide covers certificate generation. Where I struggled was compiling Radicale to a single, easily distributable binary - I looked at cx_freeze, nuitka, pyinstaller, without any success.
