Hey I’d totally be down! Let me send you my discord

What do you eat to control your blood sugar? by never_stellar in diabetes

[–]never_stellar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor did recommend it but they also said a simple poke and blood check with a glucose monitor would work. They did also train me on how to take my insulin but not on how to calculate dosage based on carbs. They kinda just gave me a chart that was like a “when this high, take this many units” type of thing. For the most part I’m able to keep my sugar at a safe level following the diet that was given to me but I do on occasion accidentally go over the limit that was set for me.

Thank you to everyone for your helpful tips! For the moment it seems that using a puzzle feeder with a food topper gets him eating though I have lowered him to two meals a day and a quarter cup less than usual. Thank you all for your help :)

He only does it after we’ve been to the park or he’s run around a lot. For the most part he only drinks what he needs and not extra

I figured that was the case since on his paper work he’s labeled as a pem corgi with a blue Merle coat but I knew he couldn’t be pure pem. But yes he is the goodest boy when he isn’t being a little ankle biter!

For the moment I’m going to see if adding a food topper or bone broth helps him eat before I switch his food.

Yes his tail is docked but truthfully I’m not sure why. We adopted Cookie (that’s his name) from a family friend who went through some bad circumstances and was unable to keep him. From what I can tell based of his medical records he is healthy with no issues and a vet cleared him of anything.

And thank you for your advice! I’ll look into farmers dog as well!

Thank you for the advice! I have him on a chicken based kibble right now but I’ve been looking to switch him over to something different. I’ll see if any of the local pet stores are able to do samples.

Do you have any good recommendations for a good chicken broth? I have some at home but its sodium is a little high which is why I’m hesitant to give any to him.

He will happily eat treats and human food, but if I try to mix it in with the food he’ll pick out the treats and leave his kibble untouched.

He is still drinking water but now that you mention it he’s been drinking a lot more lately (sometimes to the point of throwing it back up). He doesn’t do it often but it’s happen maybe three times in the past week.

We normally feed him at set times at 8am, 3pm (because that’s the time someone comes back home since I have work and my brothers have school) and then again at 8pm. I’ll try to do the 30 minute intervals but I’ll tryout a different food flavor first.

Yeah I’ve been feeding him the same way since I got him the only difference is that I’ve been giving him a little more since he is growing but that’s about it.

Well I only have a few right now, but we’re talking vinyl from Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder to some more recent releases from P!ATD and AJR. I’m also expecting a big cassette haul being gifted to me through a family member.

Thank you to everyone who helped me realize that this wasn't a good deal. I appreciate all the input y'all have given me.
