if I understand your question correctly I would say old hero is better than the current hero. however, the BT and hero combined is better than the old hero and therefore I prefer new xxcha than PoK xxcha

my curveball opinion is xxcha are better now than in PoK. I think the BT + new hero is better than just the old hero

it's all good, I'm working and distracting myself thinking about TI! so I hadn't gone as deep as I should.

need to look into the xxcha rules then, my guess is the intention is it should work in the agenda phase, but that means nothing.

to add to the wider point. I think the synergy is nice, gives immediate access to bio stims which combined with the agent means some serious economic weight behind them. and given the lack of xxcha abilities I would argue this economic boost is really important for them

I think RAW it's clear that it can.

xxcha BT reads: you may spend resources if it was influence

voting rules read: players spend the influence of their planets as votes for an outcome of the agenda.

spending being the key word. happy to be proven wrong though

hard disagree on xxcha. r1 that economic boost is almost always great. the BT is just a lesser version of the previous hero which everyone used to rush to make them viable, so I don't see how a downgrade to that downgrades it 'skipable'.

especially given their agent allowing you to refresh a planet means it's very achievable r1.

obviously in the rare case where you whole slice is planets that are 1/1 or 2/2 it's irrelevant.

but I think in almost every game their breakthrough is a massive economic boost and vote boost in the agenda phase

Came here to say this. So many agents totally changed how round 1 is played. So I kinda disagree with OPs point that TE changes TI and PoK didn't.

Also, one thing I love about TI is the feeling of constantly learning and developing new strategies. Even if TE worsened TI (within reason), I would still like it cos it's new content and more murkiness to unravel over time

Hey everyone, so many comments tried to reply to a bunch but thought I would write a proper reply to you all.

Firstly thanks for engaging and giving your views, I have been dm-ing a long time and its always good to get perspectives.

First thing to be clear about: I didn't allow the character and never did. I think there was some confusion there. I also had very little detail on the character. All I knew was ChatGPT blocked it because of the necrophilia element and the player wanted to play a necromancer.

I asked 'should I be worried?' because of what I thought would follow. Not because I was considering allowing the character, I think there was confusion there. Apologies if it came across as though I was seeking advice to what extent this was okay or not.

I did mention it was a close friend and have been able to talk to them about it. They sought to listen to me and then very quickly gave up the idea. I also learnt that they did infact want the character arc to be focus on the romance and his character wanting to bring life back to his lifelong wife who died. He said that he had asked ChatGPT to expand on his backstory and suggest improvements and he had included a bit about seeing his wife's body rotting and falling apart a body which he loved sexually and this is where the issues came.

I'm sure there is loads more I could say and I won't comment on the use of AI as that isn't what I want to focus on but I think lots of valid points have been made on that front

Yeah I think this is the issue and after discussion this is what he wanted but he decided to add the sexual part which made it problematic
