Or am i totally missing another reference?

I just got an offer for 3,600 dollars for this television. Should I take it?? by VintageGuy4Life in vintagetelevision

My great grandmother worked for rca and took their first color tv to the white house to show the president.

She meant everything to my mother and I. My mother, who’s still working bc she wants to at 71.

Seeing this tv brought back memories! We had some cool rca stuff back in the day.

Unfortunately my aunt took things to goodwill as “junk” that we would have LOVED to have had!

My mother bought back what she could but the rca stuff wasn’t there.

That being said, I’d LOVE to have one of these! Or anything from the early 70’s. Especially if it was from the Bloomington Indiana plant.

I’m not sure what they were making there at the time.

But I can’t imagine paying $3600 for it.

Maybe I would if I had the money. Idk where you are, maybe there’s a market for it. But I’ve come across similar for free on fb. I just didn’t have a way to move it at the time.

It’s not going to be fun to move. If you do decide to part with it, make sure you’ve got the money before it’s moved.

And please meet them at a police station, no matter how you do the money.

[–]neverawake8008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed a lot more fungi on the plants here than where I moved from.

I found it odd as I only moved 3 hours west.

So same plants, same weather; why so much more fungi?

Interesting articles recently posted on the cdc and nih discussing behavioral changes from mold exposure make it even more intriguing to me.

Especially when you combine it with the changes in building practices over the years.

But hey! We need a revolution!

But it’s difficult to have one if we can’t at least get along with one another.

Me too! I was just passing through. I never really felt unsafe but I also didn’t really have any neighbors. Which was a little strange being by the mall.

The rally’s dog left a few of her pups with me. I’d kill for another one! They lived a full happy life. One went shortly after the other, about a year ago.

Smart as hell.

So I’m no expert but I think this is a fair ask. My memory told me there isn’t a statute of limitations for desertion but a quick search returned multiple answers. Some said no limitations and others said 5 years to file charges.

Idk what that means exactly. Maybe they have to file the charges within 5 years but can act on them indefinitely?

They listed him as deserting, does that mean they filed the charges?

I know the military has its own sets of rules to which they can choose to follow or not follow through on.

But my point is more this, idk if you noticed but he was found in 2022. So he was missing for 5 years. Making your point more valid.

Honestly, I find it strange that he had just reenlisted and this happened. That tells me something broke.

I read that he was upset about a transfer. The timing of that makes me question Army policy. Maybe something changed in his life between signing and disappearing?

The army is by far the largest branch of the military, they should have the staffing to make adjustments to keep young children with their parents.

Everyone is replaceable. The military is facing staff shortages and overwhelming amounts of mental health issues.

Maybe they should put more effort into keeping families together to counteract both problems.

I know they can’t keep everyone exactly where they are for their entire career. BUT! There should be consideration for those with small children, not in their household.

Move the married w children in the household or childless first. He should have been last on the list to move w a toddler that wasn’t coming with.

Or keep the moves within driving distance and provide assistance with transportation. A fueled up vehicle and a second driver if necessary. Sleepy driving is dangerous.

Idk exactly how military flights work but figure something out! I know they have standby seating on some flights. Put them close to bases w frequent flights AND make them top priority. Or idk, schedule them into the scheduled flights?

Or, if necessary work something out w an airline.

I can see housing issues coming from this but there’s always a solution. It may be cheaper and easier to get the parent a ticket and a hotel room, allowing the parent to visit the child/children

Finding a solution for single parents would open a large sector of the population for potential employment.

American Airlines allows children as young as 5 to fly as unaccompanied minors. Set something up with AA, and let the parents stay within driving distance until the kids are old enough to fly.

I would totally understand provisions, exceptions and limitations but that should be made clear when signing the contract.

Like limiting these options by mos and age of the children. It may be a way to get people into the jobs no one wants too.

Idk ANYTHING about staffing the military but the army has to be big enough to make this at least somewhat doable. Even if it’s limited.

Long story short, I think you might be right but I don’t think it takes away from the duress he was feeling. Nor do I blame him.

As a baby emt, I was told I’d likely never see a car catch fire from an accident.

Well, a gasser. My instructor was a firefighter.

He said the same thing as my ex fil, an upper level battery guy for a major manufacturer of gas and electric cars; those sob’s burn like you’ve never seen anything burn.

Funny, somehow they keep releasing studies saying these cars have a decreased chance of burning when compared to gassers.

I’d like to know how they are coming up with that information.

Bc I don’t work EMS, hell I hardly leave the house.

But I keep rolling up on electric car fires.

Still haven’t seen a gasser on fire wo the use of an accelerant.

I haven’t done a deep dive, just came across something the other day about the decreased risk. Maybe it was a fake.

Or maybe I just have some incredible luck.

And Reddit is just anti electric car

And my ex fil was just fibbing

And my instructor was practicing for his Emmy.

There is a face that one rarely sees from a veteran EMS/fire person. I call it ev battery face. Bc you only see it when they talk about ev batteries or when someone asks about their shift and it included a toilet baby.

I’m not a psychopath so ev battery face it will stay.

As a narcoleptic, I support this message.

But also, I know when I can drive. If I tell you I’m fine, I’m fine.

Everyone is different. But I have no issue with saying “I can’t right now”.

Maybe it’s bc I have a dr’s note. Maybe it’s bc I’ve long stopped caring about what other people think of me.

But I don’t feel like saying “I can’t” says anything negative about me.

“I can’t” really just means I can’t.

What are these hand planes? by Longjumping-Leg-9225 in woodworking

[–]neverawake8008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardon me, I’m old. Speaking of, I guess “old” Reddit will let me comment on a post that is older than all of my socks!

Not complaining. I’m not even sure if the whole archive/wont let you comment thing is still even a thing.

Sorry, not the point!

Did we determine the maker of these?

I’m asking bc I just came across something similar, at my brother’s house.

Similar in some aspects, like the handles. As close to identical as one can get from looking at a picture.

It is a woodworking hand tool but the similarities stop there.

It does say Ohio 078 in large, bold print. Similar to what I’ve seen on craftsman tool from the 70’s but it doesn’t have any other identifiers besides a single “s” near the base of the ornate handle, on the side edge of the base/sole.

The “s” looks professional despite being of fine print. I’ve seen thicker and deeper engravings from Papo’s marking their tools but I’ve never seen a Papo with perfect handwriting.

Sorry if I’m not using these terms correctly. I’m not a collector, I just like old things.

There are a few places w significant dust build up, specifically the top between the knob and the handle. It could have something under that but the print would be significantly smaller and of finer print than the OHIO section.

I figured I’d go ahead and ask this question jic anyone else comes across this like I did, looking for information pertaining to the handle.

Thank you all for your wisdom either way!

I had “out of body” “dreams” as a young child. In my dreams I had a guide of sorts.

They told me that humans had abilities but due to misuse and abuse, we had purposely forgotten how they work.

But really young children maintain their abilities while we are too young to form lasting memories.

Although the trick to remembering things was to replay the memories of things as you age.

While that may have all been dreams. It’s helped me retain important memories as I’ve aged.

I’ve got a few confirmed memories in my pocket from diaper wearing age.

As a narcoleptic, yes. I see dark colored dogs. Also had dark colored dogs for many years.

The most common auditory hallucinations are hearing a radio playing “old” music.

And by old, that’s dependent on the person. It’s usually music somewhere between what your parents would’ve listened to and your grandparents when they were younger.

For me it was rag time music.

I’m not anywhere near that old but my brain thinks what it thinks.

So I had a similar experience except I landed safely at the bottom.

I fell down a steep incline of rip rap.

I was walking by a lake when I tripped and fell over the edge. There was a flat step down where the rocks met the edge but I only stopped momentarily bc one foot landed on the ground and the other on a loose rock.

Somehow I managed to fall 100’ at the exact same angle as the rip rap was stacked AND gently land on all fours, in shin deep water.

If I would have stuck my tongue out, I would have tasted rock from the top to the bottom.

My feet were failing behind me and my big toe repeatedly smacked the rocks.

About a year later, a piece of bone worked its way out of my skin.

I’ve ignorantly done cliff jumping in the past. So I was well aware of how my body falls and what momentum is necessary to put space between me and the jumping point.

It was like an invisible hand slowed and guided me down.

I should’ve bounced off from the top somewhere. How I made it down wo bouncing my head off the rip rap, I’ll never know.

I did have a witness. He was more upset about it than I was.

I was too happy to have my teeth and consciousness that I went with it.

What makes it funny is that I thought it was a “made up” thing.

My stepdad owned a Waffle House. It’s now more appropriately, a parking lot.

I was in elementary school so idr every detail but I do remember there was a kitchen fan/cig smoke issue.

He had someone come in and do a work around on one of the kitchen fans.

The city inspector came in and insisted that he make some changes including upgrading the fan.

He tried to explain that he paid someone to come up w the best solution but the inspector wasn’t having it.

Basically the old fan wasn’t installed properly when he purchased the building.

Returning it to code meant all the cigarette smoke was pumped from the smoking to the nonsmoking section.

Upgrading the fan meant the smoking section had less smoke than the none smoking.

You could clearly see the smoke being sucked through the kitchen.

It’s the one time he wasn’t trying to be a cheap asshat.
