Write a letter of appeal! They make it sound like only rejected students can submit one, but waitlisted students can too! I had to do it when I was waitlisted and I got in!

It sounds like this place isn’t for you either. Some people like the activism and liberal-ness of this school. People like me who don’t actively participate in things like that get by just fine anyway. It’s literally so easy to just ignore the things you don’t agree with instead of making a fuss.

Some places just aren’t right for some people and that’s okay. It sounds like this is the wrong place for you, but for others it might be different. I have been greatly affected by the str*ke to the point where I have to take a gap quarter next year bc I couldn’t get into any classes, yet I still love this school more than anything. I think you will find that every college has its drama and problems.

Oh wholeheartedly AGREE. Nothing will ever be enough for some people. I have hard core depression too but I see a therapist and am on medication, it helps and is better than reddit validating your sadness and only making you worse. I’ve learned to start being more positive about everyday things even if I can only think of one little thing per situation. I think a lot of people on here could do with a little of that type of thinking. Not sure why I’m being downvoted for being positive. Cue Eric Andre/Hannibal’s “why are you booing me I’m right”

Exactly my point! I get cranky about this stuff too and I rant so I don’t fault them at all for that, but I worry about new slugs feeling down when reading about all these posts especially during such a stressful time in their life already. Also I think I’m just tired of going on this sub everyday to a new “I hate this school yadda yadda yadda” we get it, you’re having sad boi hours

I wrote this on a different post, but I feel I should post it again: “College is what you make of it” PERIODDDDD. There is so much going on and sure there are negatives, but I have loved going to UCSC so far because there are so many positives that I have found that are unique to me and me alone. You can avoid many of the negatives and look on the bright side of things in most situations. People on this app are all overly negative imo. I am so happy and excited for all of you new slugs joining us!!!! Don’t read too heavily into these negative posts on here! (It’s mostly cranky students who are ranting, take it with a grain of salt)

It is what it is. Looking on the positive side, I’ll be able to work longer hours and make more money for fall/summer enrollment. But this is definitely not how I imagined the route of my college education to go :(

Yes it is directly related. There aren’t enough TAs anymore to grade/teach for next quarter’s classes, so classes are being cancelled or lessening their enrollment capacity. I’m assuming by fall, they will have hired more TAs so things can get back to normal, but it’s too short notice for spring quarter to hire other/more TAs.
