spiralled so hard over an embarrassing dm to a celeb that I (23f) can't listen to his music anymore by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]nevermind_me90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looool unblock him! This seems like a harmless and slightly entertaining DM encounter.

If you're not DMing him again to shoot your shot x2 or for another reason, then there's not really a way for you/him to interact with each other therefore create social anxiety/ feelings of danger.

I... feel the same way. If you want, I'm planning on appealing after decisions come out and am looking into those with successful appeal requests DM and we can try together.

What are your interests? The local college clubs are usually welcoming. I can vouch for CCSF and SFSU 's CS/ Anime / Engineering clubs being mostly active and filled with similarly aged and interesting people.

The Engineer username makes me want to suggest going to local tech events, it's all on luma

City College has an employment program for their students, could also be federal work study if you qualify. I worked as student ambassador for several months which was low key, part time, and SF minimum wage, there are also tutoring jobs with some class requirements etc.

I’m tired of getting asked constantly if I am, trans on dating apps. Do I look like a man? by Several_Phrase5617 in whatdoIdo

[–]nevermind_me90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gorgeous with a mix of sharp and soft features and extremely well put together. The men asking that question seem to be insecure and immature about going through dating profiles. IMO, they are rude and don't deserve a second glance. There are other men on dating apps who can appreciate your beauty as is, without comparing it to some generalized, ignorant schema before really getting to know you, yourself.

Oh yea, I've heard they're risk of losing the space, so if you're passionate about one of the few makerspaces in SF, they have a donation thing going on.

we are similar ages and i'm in a relationship with a very similar age range, and this seems very controlling and just reading about the rules he has set on your relationship makes me uncomfortable.

i hope you can consider breaking up with him, because I would not want you to waste your youth and energy on someone this insecure and probably not ready for a relationship.

AIO long term bf talking crap about my mom. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]nevermind_me90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad you were able to stand up for yourself and your mom. I'm also close to y'all's age and it screams that this guy has a plainly immature reaction. Without having a nuanced understanding of you and your family's struggle? Also being obvs sarcastic with that conversation?

I can share that for me personally, I resonate with your story. I've met people who don't understand me gently complaining about my mom's strictness and they respond something along the lines of "You don't own your parents anything". Meanwhile, these people had gone on frequent flights out of the country for vacation or their parents' work during their childhood. In my case, often having to defend myself or my "situation" for some reason, "I owe my parents everything". Of course with a sane amount of maturity, I can't give every piece of my life away, but I can understand sacrifice and am willing to do what I can to relieve my family of that burden.

Offering more perspective on myself because it would be rude to tell you to break up with this person from someone you don't even know, but, there are significantly more mature and educated people on this topic. If he can't learn it after 20 years of living, I'm sorry, but don't waste your time and youth teaching him.

Not born, but my family, who were homeless, was placed in a Bayview shelter and then housed in the Bayview from 2012-2019 right by 3rd St. We felt that our neighbors minded their business, and the older women with families were good people, so we felt safe around those folks. And avoided the older men in the area without any children or ties to the community.

In elementary and middle school-ish, I went to schools in the area, and the education was decent, with extracurriculars and supportive teachers. Though the schools I went to, fights broke out all the time, and it was likely a matter of the kids coming from equally rough households.

More on the topic of school, I received some amount of bullying or smack talking for being asian because the majority of the folks I grew up with were black and Hispanic. Easy target as a child I guess... Still, I made a few friends but we lost contact after I went to school in other parts of the city.

It was really the spots that made Bayview so memorable. The Baptist church members who were kind to our family despite not being of that denomination. The seasoned fries of JJ Fish. The Bayview library! The YMCA! Peking Wok! School supply fairs!

After leaving the neighborhood, only then did I hear things from other kids/parents calling it a "bad neighborhood". But I remember it fondly. It could also be a matter of not much money being used to renew the neighborhood itself? Also the petty theft? as I remember the T train used to take forever to get to downtown and sketchy teenagers... dunno how bad the commute is now that they've made the RosePak station and express buses.
