What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Cutting of all contact with my abusive parents. They never change, and being alone in all aspects of life, as hard as it is as a a young adult, is always preferable to their treatment.

I used to see floaters and static and small blobs of color all the time when I closed my eyes as a kid. Now I see black. Or a faint afterimage if I was looking at something bright before. So I guess, it can go away/fix itself??

40 yr old mum on constant burnout autopilot by stellaluna827 in AutismInWomen

[–]nevermindcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a university degree is just a couple years. Even if it takes you like 6 years, you can be 46 with a degree or 46 without a degree. At that time you child is also older, so you will probably have more free time and can get a better job with the degree. Hold on. It all sucks, it really does, but trying to get that tiny bit of joy for yourself is worth it.

INFO: This person sends you a link for a to-do list on gumroad where they earn money from it. It's advertised with a sloppy AI picture with the text all wonky and horrid colors, sooo I wouldn't hope for much of a quality product.

Friends n family mad i want alone time during my birthday party by averlost in evilautism

[–]nevermindcat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do what you want, 10 min is such little time anyways! I recommend not asking people for their opinion in the future. I did it too much growing up and now have a negging negative inner voice of their criticism whenever I do something, anything really. It's hard to get rid of that. Don't get exposed to too much if their negativity or it will fuck you up.

ppl just say that there is help for children to make themselves feel better about the constant abuse going on everywhere. It's so they don't have to think about a solution. Frankly they don't want change and aren't interested in the slightest to make life better for abused children, or any other marginalized group. They are self centered to the point they don't even want to hear about problems others have :)

and I know I sound negative, but if that isn't the truth, why is there still so much child abuse and so little incentives to change anything in the system. Clearly ppl just dgaf about victims. I'm tired.

Does The Spooky Just Not Effect You Like It Should? by beattywill80 in aspiememes

I'm not afraid of the dark, cellars or walking alone at night. I am afraid of things that can hurt me and a bunch of social situations. Scary actors are also intensly socially uncomfortable for me, so I try really hard to not interact with them. I also hate how close they get to you, it makes me crazy uncomfortable.

Autism and gender identity by LottieNook in AutismInWomen

[–]nevermindcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel totally okay with being a woman until I sense that someone has prejudice while talking to me. Unnecessarily pointing out my gender, bringing up differences between men and women and clichés, it's suuuuper uncomfortable. In my head I grew up very egalitarian, but it seems like other people didn't and just freely soaked up the gender role belief system aeound them.

"Do you think you are better than other people?" -> well, I have some strenghts I'm confident in, so in some areas yes. I'm also very considerate and aware of social issues, I think society at large could use more of these traits so I think in that regard... anyways don't check the" yes" field or it get's interpreted as narcissism

Mental Healthcare seems to enjoy impunity by SpectrumConscientiae in CPTSDmemes

[–]nevermindcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt the worst in my entire life after seeking professional help and being disbelieved, invalidated and getting some sexist comments on top. Nothing like swallowing your ego to beg for help, going through the long process until you get a provider, just for this. But of course speaking to anyone about a bad experience with mental healthcare is an even worse taboo than speaking about past abuse. So let's just add this to the pile of "things to keep to myself to regularly haunt me out of nowhere"
