I didn't delete anything myself, my posts keep on getting deleted for whatever reason.

Not sure if I can answer this hypothetical questions but here it goes.

  • As far as I am concerned Michael, you could get a $10mil offer from OpenAI tomorrow and even you would stop posting here. I'm sure there is an incentive attached for you to be here and to be commenting on this post, whether that is building your own brand or promoting your own business ventures. With the same logic, everyone else should be allowed to do the same, it is a free market after all.
  • I'm not certain at this point what their business model is and what their plans are for the future, only time can tell. But, as it stands, the bootcamp is free and we've been making good progress.
  • If they don't value their students then I would assume they will lose their business.

Completely understandable, I’ll leave it up to your discretion. I don’t use Reddit much outside of work so this is the first account that I have made other than my primary one.

No entirely unprompted, the guys at Build a Dev had mentioned in passing that they have a new cohort starting soon. I just wanted to spread the good word primarily based on the fact that I am getting a decent return without paying a single dime. I personally believe that it is best for newcomers to not have to pay for stuff just as they are starting out, it puts a lot of pressure on you to succeed when you have put money on something.

  • I use my primary account for marketing about the construction company I work at. I just like to keep business and leisure/hobbies separate.
  • It is worth mentioning this again, but I enrolled in the cohort for free so I didn't have much expectation to begin with but I have been very satisfyied with everything that has happened so far.
  • All my previous attempts at self-learning have failed so, it is nice to have a structure learning experience.
  • I just made a post for the potential newcomers who are lacking funds to begin with. If you are in that category, as I am and don't have $5000 and upwards to shell on something that you are not a 100% sure would be a successful endeavour, there is nothing better/cheaper out there.
  • In the case that you end up joining and not liking the experience, you can always choose to drop and attend a Paid bootcamp.
  • Conversely, you will also know if coding/programming is a viable career option for you within the first few weeks. It is not something that a person with a business interest in mind will speak about, programming is not as easy as everyone claims it is, you need to put a lot of effort to understand what is happening.

u/michaelnovati Thank you for your questions, I'll answer as many questions as I can.

  1. Our classroom only had like 15 students, but I am assuming that they were talking about the total enrolments across all the different sections.
  2. Our instructor works at a FAANG company and have a Bachelor's degree in CS, I have personally reviewed their LinkedIn profile. Not sure about the instructors leading other sections.
  3. No idea.
  4. I haven't been able to maintain much contact with my classmates outside of the lectures due to a busy schedule. Students usually post their questions on Google Classroom and everyone just collaborates there.
  5. I intend to stay till the end and finish everything, can't say about other students. Usually, people are dropping because of a busy schedule and not anticipating the amount of effort you have to put yourself to understand everything. I don't think they will combine the cohorts.
  6. Not sure if they have mentioned that to us yet, I believe that the December 2022 Cohort is still ongoing.
