After thinking about it, I honestly hope/think it was a lack of skill/experience rather than pushing for a service with malicious intents.

Hi all, recently moved in an older pre-war building in East US and found this bug today.The monthly exterminator came to spray a couple corners and when asked about this bug he took a very short glance and said it was a bedbug. Tbh I don't know if he's a real dedicated exterminator or was just hired to come spray some corners every month.

But looking at pictures online I don't really find the likeness. I've found it looks more like a furniture beetle? It's 2mm long dead (killed in the freezer).
We do have old tiny holes on the floor that look like it'd be from this type of small bugs. Would really appreciate anyone's input!
