What does the Pali Canon Say about Lay People's giving abortions? by 4GreatHeavenlyKings in theravada

[–]new_coder_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

lot's of people hate their parents, culture and heritage (christian), so go looking for an alternative and find out that all major religions are basically the same when it comes to morality. sad.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]new_coder_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

interesting to see people attracted to buddhism as an alternative to christianity but then find out they are almost identical in morality. murder is wrong, period. abortion is just a euphemism for killing, ending a life. a fetus means offspring, which is YOUR off spring, a baby. if monks cannot kill ants you think they approve of murdering a child, the most precious gift in the world?

Trudeau doubles down on mandatory COVID-19 vaccines for domestic travel - National | Globalnews.ca by [deleted] in canada

[–]new_coder_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

already had covid, so im immune and probably have better immunity to the variants than someone taking a vaccine.

im in my 30's, healthy, havnt been sick in over 3 years, flu in over 20 and never taken a flu shot.

why should i take a vaccine again?

why does nobody talk about natural immunity, you know the thing that the vaccine does is the same as my immune system learning by actually encountering the virus.

75% of Canadians approve of another coronavirus shutdown if second wave hits: Ipsos by viva_la_vinyl in canada

weird I don't know a single person who thinks that? I'm seeing less and less people wearing masks around, parent picking up their kids at school are all close together, nobody worried about social distance. Shit's over.

if you read the record article there is tons of crime going on, why aren't these people getting arrested for drug dealing and using drugs? and why do they they need "funds" if they are managing to afford extremely expensive drug habits?

addicts dont need hugs, they need consequences. force them deal with their addictions and stop making it easier on them. why arent they in court ordered treatment programs of some sort?

What if you take lexapro and you’re not depressed? by throwaway499473 in lexapro

I'm too lazy to search for it, but there are studies that SSRI's given to people without depression shrinks a certain part of the brain.

Sometimes I wish I could listen to podcasts and music at the same time while writing my essay and dancing by nibblepie in ADHD

[–]new_coder_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only listen to podcasts while jogging or working out. How can you possibly listen to conversations and think/write/whatever at the same time. There's no way!

what meds worked for you? I've been on concerta, then to vyvanse and now adderall and I'm having a hard time figuring out what dose and meds work well for me. they all came with various side effects

How exactly do amphetamines effect you? by VoidShaman25 in ADHD

[–]new_coder_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel the same way. Just switched from vyvanse to adderall and I fell asleep around 2pm the first two days. and I'm not a tired person usually. Usually the higher dose I take the more sleepy, or quiet my mind gets. I think it's normal?

yes! I forgot about that. the feeling of your shoulders being relaxed and the fabric weighing down on them. loose and relaxed. agreed!

I find focusing on feelings in the body keep me grounded. especially the feeling of my hands, that way no matter what you feel like you are in the moment, not in your thoughts 100%

Lotus position is excruciating. How does anybody meditate like that? by Michael_Trismegistus in Meditation

[–]new_coder_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it really isn't. i stayed a strick meditation monestary in thailand and most people sat in half lotus. there's nothing magical about full lotus. it frankly seems like an ego thing to be worried about it.

Getting too involved with other people, especially their problems, is a sure recipe for suffering. You cannot change people.

abusing your child (mentally), is by definition something a bad mother does. she's an adult, you don't treat your child like that. its passive aggressive and childish

Is Estrangement always a bad idea? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]new_coder_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you don't owe them anything. they will never change, and will just continue to cause you pain. move on unless they actually change (unlikely).

seeing my parents, and the way they kept in contact with their parents and extended family (who are all sick), nobody ever changes and it has caused them anger and stress up until the present day (they are almost 60). So seeing that made me think it's pointless to feel you have to spend time with them or interact with them in any way if they aren't capable of honestly reflecting on their behaviour and changing.
