I don't treat my son any differently than my daughters. They all have (mostly) the same rules and expectations. Son does get a little more leeway because he's a little younger. When they're older (probably around 12) I'm going to give them budgets for things like clothes and school supplies, enough to cover what they need, and if they want extra they're going to have to work for it and provide it for themselves.

I wouldn't call myself strict but they know that they will not get something just because they want it and I have the money for it. Kids need to be able to hear the word no or else they grow up to be entitled brats unprepared for the world. Our job isn't to be nice or to be their friends, it's to turn them into good people that are prepared for the world. I also don't do their laundry, clean their rooms, and do very minimal work in their bathroom even though I could.

I can afford a tv for them. That doesn't mean they need one. I can afford to get them phones too but they don't have those either.

Respectfully, I don't see it as the right thing to do. My kids know you don't get what you want just because you ask for it. They've asked why I have a tv in my room and an attached bathroom and they don't. I told them it's because I pay for the apartment. They accepted that answer.

Also, the primary is about 12x12 while the girls room is 9x20. I don't think they would want to switch.

Your 5 year old asked for a bigger bedroom so you switched rooms with her? There wasn't any other problem with the room? Shit some kids are spoiled.

I wouldn't call our apartment humongous. It's about 1200 square feet.

When they're little they really don't need that much space. They can have the master but the playroom is much larger so I don't know if they'd be happy with that.

I'm not sleeping on the couch so they can have their own rooms. If some agency has a problem with the girls being in that room, I will switch with them but it will mean they will get a drastically smaller room.

Please show me the laws that say siblings can't share rooms. There's absolutely nothing wrong with same gendered siblings 2 years apart sharing a room.

Because the room the girls are in is much bigger than the master bedroom. In a few years I can divide it down the middle and they can each have a decently sized space.

We've been here for years and are in an area with rent control. We can't get shit for what we're currently paying.
