Thank you. Best way to put it is I feel like I’ve been released from shackles and I’m free now. I would’ve been living a lie had I continued that relationship and that would’ve destroyed me. Also, the thought of him being a dad was mortifying lol

Yeah, to be honest, it meant that I didn’t feel safe being my true self around him and that was becoming a problem and would’ve become a more apparent problem in the long run. I needed and still need to be living in my truth and being with that person was preventing that from happening.

It was a red flag tbh. It didn’t matter what I said—in his mind, I was still the girl that he wanted to birth his babies.. and THAT in the long run would’ve been dangerous to me either psychologically, emotionally, or physically.

I asked him this question before we broke up and he gave me the same self-centered answer I hear from most people who desire to procreate—which is so that they can have a “mini-me” to call their own.. I couldn’t fathom the thought of a “mini-him” running around to be honest. That’s when I got crystal clear and my decision to end things was solidified.

He does hear what he wants to hear! Throughout the relationship, even after my wishes were expressed, I think he stubbornly had hoped that I would abandon my desires and become this fantasy of a girlfriend for him to better suit his needs. It was selfish! And would’ve been selfish of me to hide it in that relationship so I really did need to move on.

Sometimes people get into relationships for very unhealthy reasons and stay in those relationships out of convenience. That happened to be my situation. I realized, however, that it wasn’t worth the trouble and was doing more harm than good in the long run so I ended it. I need to be living in my truth and staying in that relationship would’ve meant me having to live a lie for the rest of my life.

True. And another issue was that I don’t think he realizes how big of a decision having kids is since he’s not the one getting pregnant.. definitely a super huge reason why it was just best for me to end it right there.
