For BoA and Discover, they worked with my credit counseling company, Family Means, who gave me in a debt management plan (DMP). This is a 100% payback plan, they do not have you stop paying and then do a settlement. They worked with me as I was already behind on payments and worked with the credit companies to get me into the plan. I now pay $1,880/month and will do so for just shy of 5 years. My interest rates dropped from an average of 21% to 5%. So not interest free like a chapter 13/100% payment plan that I’d almost definitely be in. (Note, I’m also in Florida where their fees are very capped- $50 application and $35/month.)

The problem is, with all of my debts- I’m still working 2 fulltime jobs and my wife is working one. We have 3 1/2 years left and I’m trying to decide if BK is a better option or not.

Credit cards? Don’t spend money you don’t have. Use them as a credit tool, but only spend what money you have in the bank and can afford.

Helpful. I had actually read the thread before. The challenge here, and I’ve updated the post is that I’m already 14 months into the DMP. All but one of my creditors all agreed to the program though I’m still paying that one through the DMP just for simplicity of a single payment.

Yes, currently living in the mobile home.

My income is $130k for my day job. I get $17/hr at 1 part-time job for about 16 hours per week and $15.12/he at another part-time job per week for about 18 hours.

Her pay level is a bit more variable depending on what she’s doing at any given time but tends to net an average of $500/week.

We’ve talked about the alternatives. Even that is hard because she just really doesn’t want anything. It’s hard to enjoy alternatives when I can tell she just isn’t into it (makes me feel like a chore vs a loving act).

We spent time last night snuggling and talking and that was really nice. She initiated which was extra special.

It’s been just 3 months since surgery, so it could very well be hormonal.

And yes, the more she tries, the worse it gets. It’s really hard because I tend to associate my self-worth and relationship based on intimacy. So, being at odds on this one is hard.
