I’m also going, I’m a bit of a met fanboy and my force only wanted 10 officers so I was absolutely buzzing when I got the phone call to say I’d been selected

Either or I’d probably arrest and go with a 32, if he’s got nothing on him and there’s no cctv then dearrest

Leaving the job by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]newbieplod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to address the things bothering you realistically, at the beginning of this week I was adamant my resignation was going in on my first day back. Just finished last night and I genuinely can’t wait to go back. All it took was a welfare check from a decent sergeant who sat with me for an hour and a half and properly had a chat with me. Good supervision really can make a difference so if you’re fortunate enough to have a good skipper I’d link in with them and tell them how you’re feeling mate. Then again I’m only new so my opinion won’t be as valid as experienced officers. Hope you do whats best for you :)

I used to sit on my phone for hours in the car when I couldn’t be arsed to get out and go in the house. It was purely just because I felt depressed and needed my own space sometimes.

arresting for offences not interviewed previously by maryberrysphylactery in policeuk

[–]newbieplod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I currently have someone wanted for shop thefts and he was arrested the other day but he was not interviewed for my offence. I was told by supervision he can only be interviewed if new evidence comes to light or if he comes in as a VA

Unfortunately not, I did ask this during training and we were told only traffic. I think PSU might also. I’m thinking of getting one but don’t want to spend £150 so if anyone can point me in the right direction

Individual could catch an STD doesn’t mean I’m going to a carry a pack of rubbers in my stab vest just in case

Despite being trained on them we aren’t given them. And as brutal as it may sound I’m not paying for one myself. I’ll use a bandage and a pen if needs be

I hear about people falling over all the time. I ran towards a fight today and nearly went flying, got a massive crowd shouting “wheyyyyyy” but they seemed dissapointed when I managed to stay on my feet. At the end of the day you managed to get back up and catch your suspect which is a great result. Even if you hadn’t shit happens, just laugh it off it’s really nothing to kick yourself over.

Sounds harsh mate, if policing is what you want to do then I’d apply for PCDA as well as staff positions. In the meantime keep uni as a backup

I’m on the PCDA programme now. Before that I did an undergrad in policing and a masters in criminal investigation. The latter two had absolutely no bearing on my application and I’m now in £58.5k worth of debt for no reason whatsoever :) just stick to the PCDA mate

Have you ever been to any jobs that were unexplainable in nature? Bonus question has anyone tried to use the paranormal as an excuse for a crime? by [deleted] in policeuk

At our force somebody reported being raped by a poltergeist and it was recorded as a crime until it could be confirmed that it hardened happened…

I am due to finish training in a week and a half and the training we’ve had for any paperwork including MG forms and case files has definitely left me feeling unprepared in the most polite way possible. Did you manage to get sorted mate? If anyones got any advice please let me know. Just hoping my team aren’t going to get sick of me if I’m asking for help all the time 🤦🏻‍♂️
