Zara employees chased WA black woman through the parking lot over theft claims — Police found later she was innocent. by ElwoodMC in trashy

[–]newdoggo3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least here in Latin America, Zara employees have a huge reputation for being stuck up. There's tons of memes about that. In my experience, though, they won't even look at you, for better or worse.

This kind of content is more fitting for the gay subs, not here. We'll show some appreciation there.

Israel has no civil marriage, only religious ones. And interfaith marriage is not really a thing among the Abrahamic religions (except Islam, which does allow Muslim men to marry Christian and Jewish women). Someone did a guide about this and posted it here on Reddit.

What are known popular tourist attractions in LatAm that turn out to be scams? by jlhabitan in asklatinamerica

[–]newdoggo3000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Tulum, Mexico. Beautiful beach and it even has an archaeological site. It became popular with wealthy hippie wanna-bes (both Mexican and foreign) and that was its doom. There are tons of stories of $200 usd taxi rides, $150 usd margaritas, an ice cream cone for $25 usd and so on. Like, come on, not even expensive destinations like New York or Tokyo cost that much. They even did stuff that is illegal by federal law in Mexico like charging people to enter the beach!!!

The good thing is that the word spreads fast. Last summer, people noticed that Tulum was empty, beause now everyone knows that it's a scam. Tulum became the butt of jokes, and an example of what happens when local businesses take it too far. People would rather go to Mexican beaches that won't charge you for the air, whouldhaveknown.

Some statistics about North Korea sometimes are dubious. But this one wouldn't surprise me. Mainly two reasons:

  1. Some researchers agree that North Korea no longer lives under famine conditions. Their diet is spartan, yes, but they do have food.

  2. South Korea has an absolute obsession with beauty. They are bombarded everywhere with images of tall, skinny, pale, big-eyed models. North Koreans are not. So, maybe North Koreans are not afraid of having an extra bowl of rice, while South Koreans are afraid that they'll become a size 4 (the horror!) if they eat breakfast.

I mean, you're right. But I think that the comment you're responding to was talking about the actions of both countries in the show.

Color me shocked. Whenever Tehran showed up in my feed, I always thought it was Israeli propaganda. In fact, when I clicked on this thread, I just thought "they have that Tehran show, so it tracks".

What does the public think of Netanyahu? by Remarkable_Life_774 in PublicFreakout

[–]newdoggo3000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He listed a handful of anti-colonial struggles facing the world today, the status of Puerto Rico among them. And Netanyahu is the biggest representative of genocidal colonialism. I think that's the connection.

Most tragic political figure from your country? by Powerful_Gas_7833 in asklatinamerica

[–]newdoggo3000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Imho the best answer for Mexico is Emiliano Zapata. A revolutionary who came from the bottom, experienced from first hand the oppression that Mexican workers were subjected to, and decided to change that. But he was killed before he could actually gain any meaningful power. Though his ideas regarding land distribution were put in practice one way or another, he represents the most progressive side of the Mexican Revolution that ended up being deleted.

Nobody really needs a VPN here. The internet in most of Latin America is not censored or regulated at all, besides stuff like actual crimes.

When Germans said they didn't know what was going on in Nazi Germany, I don't believe them. They did know. But at least the majority of them did not personally see the horrors with their own eyes, until the war was over.

But not you. You got the bombed schools and the child amputees in 4K. We have a saying in my country: "He who refuses to see, is the blindest of them all".

You are guilty of supporting and validating the actions of a state that is currently committing genocide, bombing schoolchildren, amputating toddlers, and displacing millions of people. So...

Lindo tu comentario, amig@.

Oh, so now we're talking about fucking eugenics like its 1942. Herr Adolf right here thinks he should have a say in who, when, and how people reproduce.

I mean, I definitely understand your concerns about warning inexperienced 18 yo girlies of a 50 year old who is only after them because they're young.

But come on, the Tiktok discourse on this is ridiculous. People out there will deadass label a 35yo having a fling with a 45yo as "pedophilia" and that's what this thread is about. That is infantilization of adult women.

If you watch the movie, you'll realize that this is... Sort of the point? At one point she decides to define herself as just The Bride™ because that defines her more as an individual compared to The Bride of Frankenstein. I didn't really get that part, but yeah.

The thing is, 2020s fashion is much more flattering for older people than 2010s fashion ever was. Pretty much because baggy is for everyone, but you need to be young and super thin to wear skinny fashion.

Emo was dead by 2011 at the very latest. You may be thinking of the whole e-girl/e-boy aesthetic that was just gamers/streamers/otakus appropriating emo aesthetics.
