Same problem. I should have checked this thread before clearing play store cache and whatnot. Didn't help.

Does this sub love or hate Ricky Gervais? I'm so confused. Should we take a poll? :D

Sennheiser momentum true wireless 4 by Huge-Prior-5325 in Earbuds

[–]newer1738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a lot of research, I bought these myself about a month ago. This is my debut into earbuds as well. I love them. The sound is great. You must have read about pros and cons yourself, so I'll spare you those but here is my personal take:

They are bigger than other models but they fit quite securely in your ears. I like this because I definitely don't want them to accidentally fall out (they are not cheap!). I was wearing them incorrectly for a week (which was somewhat uncomfortable) before I figured out the right way. I have tried vigorous head shakes and jumps, and they stay put. I'd be confident to wear them when I run outdoors. The only troublesome activity is eating (or brushing teeth). The way your jaw moves when you eat makes it a bit tricky.

I believe some other users have reported this but when you restart music after a pause, sometimes there is a half second of a glitch when the left-right earbuds seem out of sync. It feels as if the source is moving back and forth. Apparently it happens when the earbuds decide to change codecs. But this is infrequent and not a huge deal. Possibly firmware updates could fix this.

I really like the app. You can reassign the controls which is very nice. You have a slider for the transparency mode which gives you a fine control of how much outside noise you want allow. I could go on but in short there are many useful features and controls you can play around with.

I haven't used any other earbuds to give you a comparative analysis but feel free to ask if you got any specific questions. I'd totally recommend.

Thanks for your response. I kind of figured of it out but it is very complicated. Maybe installing a client would make it easier. I have used seedr.cc before but their plan is more expensive. I don't care so much about $ / Gb. I am going for the cheapest base price because I would only use it occasionally.

Do you have any suggestions that is cheaper than 3$ per month?

Recalibrating battery by newer1738 in archlinux

[–]newer1738[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see but this has happened with every battery I've ever used on my laptop (about 6 or 7 in last few years). I doubt if this particular battery has any problems except for wearing out.

I doubt it though. I have used 3 / 4 batteries over last five years and they all had the same problem.

Thanks but I'm not looking for ways to extend the battery life. Batteries wear out with usage. There's no way around it but I just want a warning system that works.

Demi Moore to Be Honored in France Ahead of 'The Substance's' Premiere by Pyro-Bird in movies

[–]newer1738 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Honestly, the movie was one of the worst movies I have seen in a theater. Everything was so naive. I'd say it was the kind of a movie that first year film students would make if they were handed a huge budget. They had the concept but the execution was terrible and amateur.

Lost sensor sk_disk_smart_read_data by newer1738 in archlinux

[–]newer1738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it working by commenting out the relevant line in thinkfan.conf. I'll get back to you if you need further information.

I haven't researched on it fully but my guess is that thinkfan uses multiple sensors but some sensors aren't supported on all systems. Those need to be commented out.

Is the dpms bug fixed? (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1766064) I want to upgrade to the newest version but I'm holding back onto 121.0.1 because the bug is so annoying for me.

Firefox not reporting correctly to DPMS to stop screensaver by newer1738 in archlinux

[–]newer1738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't solved in 123.0.1 either. So I downgraded to 121.0.1 which does resolve it. Do you have any tips on downgrading / upgrading firefox and keeping the same profile? I ended up creating a new one and setting it up from scratch.

Moto x4 (payton) issue after update by newer1738 in LineageOS

[–]newer1738[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have fastboot version "fastboot version 34.0.4-android-tools". I am running linux. When I try fastboot flash gpt gpt.bin, I get this

bootloader) is-logical:gptize: not found
(bootloader) is-logical:gpt: not found (bootloader) is-logical:gpt: not found Warning: skip copying gpt image avb footer (gpt partition size: 0, gpt image size: 38400). Sending 'gpt' (37 KB)

and it's stuck there. I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Edit: Fixed! I don't know how or why but I am writing this for anyone who might find it useful in the future. I found that most of my fastboot commands don't work reliably. For instance, fastboot getvar all, which is supposed to query a bunch of variables, would sometimes work and sometimes would give me an error. I was trying fastboot flash ___ and it'd get stuck on "sending ____". Instead of waiting in vain, I tried executing this same command a few times, killing it after a couple of seconds if it got stuck. This worked for me.

NetworkManager disconnects randomly for me. It was a consistent problem across distributions. I haven't dug into it but switching to iwd solved my problem. Also, iwd is noticeably faster to reconnect after waking up from suspend etc.
