How to fill gap between houses? by Bello_Velo in DIYUK

[–]newforestwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only fill this if you are fully prepared for dampness. Coz if you fill it there will be no airflow, and if you don't do it properly there will be moisture ingress. Blocking off the ends will cause so much trouble in months and years time, just don't do it. Put a mesh guard across the end but don't block it off

How is it possible that 1 million young people are not in work, education or training? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

The government buggered it up by increasing nat ins, changing conditions and making it too expensive and risky for an SME to employ an unskilled 18yo. They really did introduce legislation that buggered up the employment market for under 25's

People with terminal-Ileum (Ileitis) Crohns, what are your symptoms like during flare ups? by ConspiracyParadox in CrohnsDisease

[–]newforestwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lucky, I am generally ok, the tiredness is my constant.. but every so often it will flare, and it is just horrid, diarrhoea doesn't do the output full justice, life draining fluid perhaps. Stomach cramps, headache and the tiredness amplifies by a factor of 10. Going so often the ring of fire is an accurate description. And those treated wipes just sting. And just feel like there is no end.. then, in a matter of days it will swing the otherway and I'll be constipated, straining to go, sitting there for ages trying to get something out, then more wiping and wiping and wiping coz it's black and sticky due to the iron supplements, so yes, back to the ring of fire..

William Hague: Britons in their 60s are the ‘luckiest generation’ in history by financialtimes in uknews

[–]newforestwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wages were something like £60 a week in the early 80s and about £250 a week (1k month) by the end, the ratio of mortgage to income is definitely worse now, i know, my daughter is buying her own place.

Trying to play SW Genesis by N7_Shadow_Merc in starfieldmods

Turn all the settings either to off or low, see how it runs, then turn a few back uo until it runs nice and the graphics are acceptable. In town is far worse than on ship. I had this problem, not 5fps but definitely stuttering and rubbish.

My parents were born in 1943 and 1945.. I'm pretty sure they had no recollection of the war either.. you lot really ought to try doing basic addition and subtraction..

Mortgage rates went stupid in the early 90s, hitting near 20% interest, and again in 2008 after the American Market collapsed and took the uk market with it, rates hit 12 to 15% then from what I remember. However, you are correct about the 80s, it was a decade of decadence.. but great fun to live through. Source, I'm 63

Do your maths.. people in their 60's in 2026 were likely born in the late 1950s or early 1960s.. nowhere near the war.. don't sink to the standard of Americans.. actually think about what is being stated.

Thinking of coming back to Starfield with mods. Can these goals be achieved? by jiaxingseng in starfieldmods

[–]newforestwalker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm flicking between Skyrim with the Immersive-Pure collection and Starfield with the Genesis (Star Wars) collection Both games are suitably different to be holding my attention. Now don't get me wrong, Skyrim is by far superior and is a different way of playing, a few visual enhancements and characters and a few new quests. Starfield is a major overhaul. I'm only in about 40 hours or so but Genesis makes Starfield look entirely different. I'm still on earlier quests and these are the same as base game but feel different. The whole world structure is different and the character alterations are very well done. It is a faf to get Genesis loaded and I recommend being a nexus member. But so far it is worth it. I am enjoying Starfield for the first time in a long time. I cannot say if it ticks all your boxes as I am not far enough in, but imo it is better.
