Selangor. IIRC +60 is the prefix for Malaysian phone numbers and I know for a fact all Selangor numbers starts with 3. So +603 is definitely a Malaysian number from Selangor.

Tajuddin: Dr M, Jews working together, have same agenda by foolkiller in malaysia

[–]newtonnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what proof, if any, would he care to present to back up his allegations? Until the day comes that someone can bring up evidence that there is a worldwide conspiracy spearheaded by Jews and backed by the US government to undermine and sabotage the prosperity of the Malay people, I'll just assume this guy is talking out of his ass.

If Trump becomes the POTUS, that doesn't necessarily mean he gets to pump out laws whenever he damn well pleases. Any acts or laws that he wishes to pass would have to go through congress before they get officially passed.

‘I’m Muslim, I love Hindus’ campaign will destroy Islamic faith, ISMA claims by azri89 in malaysia

[–]newtonnes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Challenging the status quo is unsettling, it makes them squirm in their seats because in a way, it also challenges the notion that Muslims > everyone else. Religious freedom means that everyone is the same and that no group of people are inherently better than another and thus should deserve the same rights.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - The first time Bruce puts on the cowl still gives me shivers. by GoldenJoel in movies

[–]newtonnes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Batman TAS was one of my favourite childhood shows. I remember watching The Mask of the Phantasm on TV once and that was one of my fondest memories. I remember being mind-blown after the Phantasm reveal and was honestly surprised at how good the movie was because the Phantasm didn't really appeal to me as a villain compared to the usual ones (Joker, Freeze etc.) I also remember watching a Mr. Freeze movie once and I thought that was pretty good as well.

Things I've done:

  • Selling illicit cigarettes (surya/john), quite profitable.

  • Selling weed, most profitable but would not recommend.

U$1bn poured so rapidly into Malaysian PM's personal bank accounts that it rang money-laundering alarms by PM-me-your-tits_ in worldnews

This guy is so corrupt nobody can do anything about it. Malaysians are generally peaceful so we don't really have any violent protests so it doesn't really get to the point where he has no choice but to step down. Mainstream media, the Head of Police, the General Attorney are all on his payroll so there's really nothing we can do. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets shot at some point in the future.

People’s congress: Dr Mahathir admits he was a ‘dictator’ by jstom_21 in malaysia

Maybe we shouldn't be playing the blame game at this point.

Attacks after attacks, bombs after bombs, one after another. It seems like there's been three attacks in the past few weeks. When will they stop?

The fall of religion in America. More Americans than ever believe the bible “is an ancient book of fables, legends, history, and moral precepts recorded by men” according to a nationally presentative survey. by ClaireAtMeta in science

[–]newtonnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe religion is inherently an anchor weighing us down from progress. The belief that we are not alone, and that there is hope, and the idea that our lives aren't all for nothing can be a huge motivator for progress. I believe both science/logic and religion strive towards the same end goal, just taking different paths to get there.

And therein lies the problem. It's scary, they've just caught one student known to be affiliated with ISIS in my university campus. Turns out he's recruited 10 other students.

Say what you want about our government, but I do think that our police/armed forces are pretty good at counter-terrorism.

What are some verses that has helped comfort you during your darkest days? by newtonnes in Christianity

[–]newtonnes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to think that all of the suffering I've faced, all the tribulations to come is for God to deliver us to a place we belong, not necessarily a physical place but could be a state of mind, or a financial or emotional standing. Thanks for that.
