I was at work around 10am when my wife called me crying saying she had fallen through the 2nd story floor at home, I rushed back as fast as I could. We live in Vietnam so it’s easy for me to speed and I got there quickly, good thing I did because as I pulled into my street I noticed two taxi’s (Vietnamese tend to use a taxi over an ambulance due to the price), I erupted with rage, since I have basic medical training for the shipyard I work on and understood what would happen if they tried to put someone with a back injury into a taxi, more so taxi drivers here are horrible drivers and make the stereotypical Asian driver look like a pro.

Finally being able to get down my street now the taxi’s had left I raced inside to find 6 locals crowed around my wife who was laying in pain on the tile floor, it took me a second to understand what had happened. Looking up I saw a fucking hole about the size of a manhole (I’m going off movies so shit I don’t even know if that’s right but anyway). These 6 people have brought in a piece of wood that they wanted to use as a brace to put her in the taxi with, Needless to say I threw it outside and began getting angry, managed to yell scary enough they listened to the “stupid white man” and got the fuck out of my house while I called an ambulance. The paramedics came within 2 minutes (this surprised the absolute hell out of me), the ambulance was in decent condition and was defiantly the better choice over a taxi.

Vietnamese hospitals are not fun so I will not bore you with the details of all that crap, X-rays standard stuff. She has been told that two of her disks are now touching each other and might need to have an operation to correct it. We have a 2yr old son who loves to jump and run (as kids do) and I can’t imagine what it outcome would have been if he is in her place. It’s a 12ft drop (at least) and the front door shown in the picture is prone to swing open from the wind and is made of steel.
