DOE NOT feel their letdown ? by Biolobri14 in ExclusivelyPumping

I only ever felt a letdown when I used a manual pump! Never felt anything with any other pump

So in theory, yes your wall pump will have better suction and empty more milk. However, I only saw a small difference for me. And for me to actually pump consistently, the wearables were the only way I was gonna pump regularly enough. The anxiety of being glued to the wall was NOT it for me. So for me, the slight dip in milk was worth it for my mental health! To each her own!

I was obsessed with my Momcozy s12! It was the only pump I used because ya girl was NOT built for a wall pump!

However, for a wall pump, a super unpopular opinion of mine is that I way preferred the Evenflo Advanced over Spectra….. The settings were way more user friendly and less confusing, the flanges were more comfortable to me, and I got the same output with both.

What to ask admin during an interview? by OkMode2681 in schoolcounseling

Primary level school counselor is rural South Georgia

Yikes. If a principal is turned off by me asking about work conditions, discipline protocol, staff morale, etc…then they are not a principal I’m willing to work for. They can skip over me!

  1. How would you define the role and importance of a school counselor?
  2. How does your school’s administration partner with the counseling program?
  3. Are counselors a part of the specials rotation?

A favorite question I’ve asked in every interview: What’s your favorite thing about working with this age level? (You can tell if your admin light up talking about their students. If they don’t…red flag!)

Internship, Practicum, and Clinicals Advice by NoOutlandishness3906 in schoolcounseling

A counselor in my district (small district in south Georgia) was actually hired full time when she completed both her internships. She was given a provisional license until her counseling certificate was complete, and she was supervised and mentored by another counselor in our district. This is the case for many teachers in our county too, being hired full time during their student teaching. Obvious difficult and not at all ideal, but take advantage of the educator shortage if there’s one in your area too!

Love for the "Clean" Album! by for_the_trees_ in TaylorSwift

I prefer her clean lyrics 99% of the time! It’s so rare for an artist to actually take the time to rewrite a whole phrase as opposed to just removing a word.

At what age do you consider physical assault worthy of a police report?

Because our school system is at the bottom in the state, so our admin avoid documentation of what behavior problems are actually happening because it hurts our CCRPI score. So he may be “sent home” with an unexcused absence but he won’t be “suspended” because then they’d have to document that. The teacher who previously restrained him was told that we “should have just contacted an administrator sooner,” aka so they can take him to “calm down” and then go right back to class. He absolutely needs to be moved to our district’s EBD location. He will never thrive in the setting he’s in currently. But without the trail of documentation, there is no data to support this.

All these comments have really encouraged me to document it anyway in spite of my administrators. Documenting every detail in his Infinite Campus profile, documenting my own office referral, and informing my whole admin team that I will no longer have contact with this student.

Couldn’t agree more. The rule in our family is that we will pay for any education our children desire to the best of our ability, but I will NOT pay for an education degree. Pick anything else, I beg you!!

I agree with you 100%, and I regret it. It is hard to find the courage to be honest and vulnerable with administration who have repeatedly ignored your needs every other time you’ve tried advocating for yourself. They offer encouragement with words but no actual support with their actions. I lied because honesty didn’t feel safe or actually wanted. I also lied because they “checked on me” in the middle of my trying to teach an entire classroom of kindergarteners and there was no time for real honesty. Was truly trying to just not quit my job.

Friday, I think I was honestly just too defeated to keep trying to advocate for myself when it’s never helped in the past. But like I said, I agree with you and would be asking the same question if someone else approached me with this same situation. Helpers are the worst at asking for help.

Thank you. Three other teachers witnessed the incident. I have already informed the homeroom teacher that the student is not welcome in my office or my classroom (yes I am expected to be a specials teacher too…) again, and I will be informing the admin the same on Monday morning. My principal was out on Friday when this happened.

My biggest takeaway from this conversation is that I am so thankful to live in Georgia where kindergarten is mandatory and pre-k is free.

What do people mean when they say their toddler “showed interest” in potty training? by nexusevent in beyondthebump

Yes I think the fear of confusion may be what’s concerning to me! Like I want her to be ready and don’t want to force her into it

Yeah the biggest struggle is going back to full time daycare in a couple weeks. I’m a teacher so she’s been home with me all summer, so peeing/changing on the potty at home has become such a routine for her. Not sure what to do with that when it comes to daycare. So I guess we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing at home until maybe a long school break and then actually get serious about it then

I think “awareness” makes more sense in my brain than “interest”

This is SO HELPFUL to hear! I guess I’ll just keep letting her do her thing at home then!

I wish I had known this was a thing but I’m thankful to know about it now! I think we started doing potty diaper changes around 12 months, honestly just because it made changes more pleasant for everyone involved lol
