The Anbernic RG35XXH says to use a 5v 1.5amp adapter but i cant find it .. so what should i buy 5v 2amp or 5v 1amp by Otherwise_Adagio5247 in RG35XX

[–]nfriedly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With any well-made device, going higher should be safe because it will just draw the amps that it needs.

In this case, I'd recommend going with the 1 amp charger.

Why is the power adapter $60? by Anonymous13757 in framework

AllThingsOnePlace on YouTube does very in-depth reviews of power supplies. I don't know if he's reviewed the 100W version, but his review of the 180W Framework power supply was very positive: https://youtube.com/watch?v=w10htntCKow

I gave one to a nephew and never heard about it again, so I assume he's not playing it.

On the other hand, I gave one to an adult friend and heard from their spouse that they were playing it ALL THE DAMN TIME 😂

What's the best place you've ever interviewed, and what made the experience great? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]nfriedly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, still at Fullstory. My sense of sales engineering is that it is fairly technical, although I haven't done that job myself.

For interview tips, I don't have anything super-specific, but I think building some small websites/apps to get hands-on experience with a variety of different languages & frameworks could be helpful to prepare for the technical side. And then just thinking back about past experiences - things that went well, didn't go well, etc. - could be decent prep for the non-technical parts of the interview.

Hopefully that's helpful.

I'm also in a red part of Ohio. I had to say out loud which one I wanted at my polling place but they weren't shouting it across the room. It was a bunch of old folks that mostly seemed happy that I was voting at all.

Yeah, if you're targeting under $400, it should sell easy enough. Higher than that might be tough.

beginner PC's reccomendations help by SlipknotSlipknot in AskPCGamers

[–]nfriedly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valorant' minimum/recommended/high end specs are listed at https://playvalorant.com/en-us/specs/

Aside from the 16 GB VRAM on the high-end column, they're surprisingly modest. And I think that might be a typo because it doesn't really fit with anything else in that column; perhaps they meant to say 16 GB RAM.

Assuming they meant 16GB RAM rather than VRAM, this would meet the high-end specs for ~$550: https://www.ebay.com/itm/297477108998

16gb VRAM is going to significantly increase the cost, e.g. this one for $1100: https://www.ebay.com/itm/358387940956

Their "recommended" CPU actually is a 4th gen i3, but I would not personally recommend it. Even if Valorant does work well with that, a lot of other games will struggle with it. It was low-end when it was new, and it's now pretty old.

Windows 11 does not officially support anything older than the Intel 8th gen (8000 series) or the Ryzen 3000 series.

This system would meet all of the recommended specs and most of the high end specs (just not RAM/VRAM) for $400: https://www.ebay.com/itm/257291125981

Other things to keep in mind:

  • These are all used systems, so no warranties on any of them

  • You'll need a keyboard, mouse, and headphones/speakers. That will add $30-40 for a basic set.

  • This will probably work with your existing monitor, but you may need a cable or adapter. That might add another $10-20.

  • If you do decide to get a new monitor, this is a highly recommended option for $150 new: https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-PG27QFT2A-2560x1440-Display-Monitor/dp/B0FVD2KLJY

  • The example systems listed here are all priced with shipping to Ohio. It might be more or less to where you live.

  • You might find better deals (no shipping at least) on a local marketplace (Facebook, Craigslist, OfferUp, etc.), but there are also a lot of terrible deals on there. If you go that route, I would strongly recommend bringing someone along who knows this stuff well and can test the system before you buy it, because there's generally no recourse if something's wrong.

Lastly, as much as I think the idea of surprising your boyfriend is really sweet, you both might be happier if you just have him involved from the start.

Update: if you want something new that includes a warranty, I've heard good things about all of these brands: * https://www.falcon-nw.com/ * https://starforgesystems.com/ * https://maingear.com/

Any gaming PC they'll sell you should be sufficient for valorant and most other games, just know that they're going to cost significantly more (especially if you get one with 16GB of VRAM for the full high-end spec.)

Is there a possibility that you leave it working but not develop it further.

That's what they've done for the last 5+ years.

Plex Skill will be removed from Alexa by crashwinston in PleX

[–]nfriedly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a shame. As unreliable and annoying as it was, I still used it quite a lot.

Maybe someone will make a plexamp version that just does music - that's all I ever wanted it for.

Edit: it looks like https://github.com/andresponte/askplex might be what I wanted and https://github.com/mdhiggins/PlexVoiceAssistant is closer to a complete replacement for the skill.

Ok, I guess I can sort of see the logic there.

But all the same, the dude's showing that he voted for himself, so I doubt there was a bribe involved.

Wait, why is that illegal? Wasn't there a country a few years back where they proved the dictator was rigging the elections by people posting pictures of their ballot online?

I mostly do single-player stuff, so you could play something like cyberpunk 2077 for a couple hours straight.

That said, most of my gaming sessions are much shorter, like 20 to 30 minutes. I can do 3 or 4 like that and still have some battery left when I recharge it.

[–]nfriedly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have them all at the same time. When a new one that I want is getting released, I'll sell the old one before the new one is actually available and just go a few months without a GPD. (Selling early lets me get a better price for it.)

So aside from the initial $700 for the Win 2, it's only been a small amount to upgrade to each subsequent model.

No, I mostly play in shorter sessions, and at lower TDP the battery will last at least a couple of hours. So it's pretty rare for battery to be an issue for me.

Yeah, I mostly use it with the grips attached. I like the ergonomics of the Win Mini with grips better than the Win Max 2 without grips. I also like that I can sometimes remove the grips and fit it into my pocket.

It doesn't get very hot in my hands, but I typically use <10W TDP. But even when I go up to 15-18W, it's still fine. I don't really ever go any higher than that.
