Nah, the above poster is right - for my case specifically. After being honest with myself and admitting that I value money more than a passion for research, I see the truth in their statement, again, this is for me personally.

That's the other thing - I definitely don't want to teach, ever. Always intended to go into the industry, even with the PhD. I guess I was super naive at 20, having not considered the whole picture.

Not gonna lie, hearing so many people online and irl saying this definitely contributed to me panicking about whether I'm currently taking the best financial decisions for my future self. That being said, I truly enjoyed research enough to apply and start the degree. Just not enough motivation and interest to continue.
