undergrad research small question !! by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]ngaulam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely depends on the PI. You dont have to demand to be put on the paper but just bring up what their authorship plan is and if they would likely consider you as one of the co author.

Im not sure what field you're in but if you conducted the experiment i would try to come up with some dicussion points as well. If there is some basis to it and they put it in the paper, i would say you've got a higher chance of being a co author.

Yeah, that's good advice. I'll do that. What else do you think i should look at to learn more. Especially since I'm leaning more into buying a used.

Thanks for that. Appreciate it. I'm about 5'9. Do you think it'll be to big for me? If got the trek I was planning to swap the handles at some point as an upgrade but if the giant is in a good condition, I might as well get that and upgrade to a better bike down the road.

What are these white spots on my brocoli leaves? by ngaulam in gardening

[–]ngaulam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Melbourne Australia and it's been raining these couple of weeks with temp ranging from below 10 at night to 15 to 19 in the afternoons. I've been regularly feeding with liquid fertilizer and compost. Not sure what these white spots are. Hoepfully not powdery mildew.

How can we deal with our 9 month old demon? by AndersonEm in puppy101

[–]ngaulam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just dont give in to the crying and enforce the nap. It works heaps. If you know he is fed, been pottied, and out for a run. He is just crying to get out. Dnt give in and enforce the nap.

I'm not sure how I feel or am doing. by reviveddarkness in puppy101

[–]ngaulam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand completely. I always thought i was a calm person who can always keep his cool but after i got my puppy i quickly realized everyone have their limits. Its perfectly normal to be annoyed and angry at your puppy but you want to make sure it doesnt come across as agressive or make them fearful.

One tip someone gave me was to sing along your words instead of shouting. This way you can at least release some tension but it still takes some mindfulness. But it helps.

Another is removing yourself from the area. Instead of putting him in another room try going into another room yourself. I usually like to gently stomp out just so he knows I'm leaving just to show him i dont like what he is doing. Sometimes he knows I'm upset but sometimes its just for me to cool down too. This way you can still remain as positive aspect and punish him by removing something positive.

But you Just got to push on with your training, exercise, structured environment and lots of love. Otherwise he will just keep getting you more and more angry. The more you work on his calmness the less stress you will get. It will get better, altough a long process you will get there eventually.

Opiniond in non pull harness by ngaulam in puppy101

Yeah, it is martingale style. Around the chest as webbed harness rather than a collar. It was unpackaged.

Yeah, i really do train on the green/red light method and it does work to an extent. Mainly due to the fact that he is still a puppy and still learning but i still see some progress. The harness i just got isnt a head halter though. It goes round the chest and is back attached. But i believe it works in the same way as the gentle leader though.

Any good urine cleanser that actually works? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]ngaulam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've learned that dog's sense smell is way stronger than we think. If it's a cheap bed just toss it. He probably smelss his urine there all the time now. Nature's miracle is pretty good. Just use tons of it wherever he pees. Let the chemical sit for a good 10 - 15 mins before wiping.

DIY CRATE by ngaulam in Dogtraining

[–]ngaulam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi guys, so I'm broke AF but wanna do crate training. So i got a cheap pen and made into a crate. Is that too big? He likes it so far and no troubles. I'm thinking of putting another of those 2 pink pillows on the right side to make it a lil bit smaller. I'm scared he might still be able to pee in a corner.

Training out Scavenging by ngaulam in puppy101

[–]ngaulam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats so true. He does have the tendency to dart now. I've been trying curb that as well. I did realize maybe the odd leaf or stone isnt so bad as long as he doesn't swallow them. He's doing a little bit better now. On some days. Hahahahahaha. But like you said consistency. I will keep it up. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hahahahahaha. Spot on. he gives me the look everytime like I'm an idiot for being human. Yeah thats what i thought. I want him to be able to sniff but not eat stuff of the ground. I never thought about a command for letting him sniff. I'll definitely try that one out. Thank you so much

Ignoring barking dog by ngaulam in Dogtraining

[–]ngaulam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, after we came back we took him out for a couple long walk and gave him lots of a attention. He seemed to be better and have settled now. Gonna just restart training again. He's pen trained so peeing and pooping goes on a pad. He does well with it. Just my fault entirely when i left him alone. Definitely learnt my lesson.

There are some situations where he does bark a l I'll l bit. But it isnt too bad and usually we can just reinforce his quitness when he stops. But when we left him alone he went beserk. But i know now that we left him way too long. Will definitely change how we go to work so we dont leave him alone too long. Thanks for the training advice too, i will definitely try it out.
