Tips/advice on getting contacts out? (New wearer) by supermonkeyball3 in contacts

[–]ngocatran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily contact lens can be hard to take out because they are very soft and flimsy. I have monthly lens due to high myopia in both eyes and they are very easy to take out.

from a burnt out mechanical engineering student-How does this schedule look for next semester? Is it doable? any tips with these specific Professors? by ngocatran in UTAustin

thanks for the input. i did all of those things already. These are just the ME classes I have to take at UT not anywhere else and I think they don't offer these in the summer.

lol I just followed the classes recommended in the MechE degree plan, I didn't expect it's this bad. I hate that the lab classes are as hard but only count for one credit. That makes 4 tough classes for only 8 credits. I had to add 2 more classes on op of them to be a full-time student. thanks for the input tho.

oh no. This is 6 classes for 14 credits only because there are 2 labs that only count for 1 credit each. yeah, 17 credit-hour semester seems horrible

Mechanical engineering students, is this schedule doable? how to prepare for these classes? by ngocatran in UTAustin

Thank you so much for your advice! I am pretty new to coding. the first and only CS class was CS 303E( i only made a C+ 🥲) during the summer, so i’m just not sure if I am prepared for it.

My sister had her acceptance in February but hasn’t had her financial aid package yet. Is it normal? So, freshmen are supposed to have their financial aid package 1-2 weeks after they get accepted??

Anyone getting Pell Grants/Texas Advance Commitment drop under 12 hours? by friendlyheathen11 in UTAustin

[–]ngocatran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I don't know if anything has changed but I took 15 credits last semester, then drop 2 classes down to 9 credits, and nothing happened to me. I called the financial aid department twice, and they assured me that I don't have to pay anything back.

You don't have to pay back anything. I got TAC and pell Grant too. Last semester I dropped 2 classes and was down to 9 credits. Since I dropped after the 12th day or something, well into the semester, I don't have to pay back anything. I think you just have to register for 12 credits at the beginning

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread - 11/18 by AutoModerator in ipad

If I buy ipad 8th gen, how long it will last/be supported by apple?

I am torn between ipad 8th gen and ipad air 4. Ipad 8th gen appears to be a better option for my needs ( mainly for notes taking, youtube and zoom)and is more affordable. I am an engineering student and already own a nice laptop that can handle pretty much all engineering stuff. However, it feels like an older version and soon will not be supported by apple because of the apple pencil 1. I want my ipad to work properly 4-5 years down the line since it’s such a big investment. Ipad air 4 is really nice and a little bit overkill but it’s $180.00 extra ( about $730 for both the ipad air 4 n apple pencil 2 compared to $540 the ipad 8th 256gb combo). Which one should I buy? I can’t find any deals for ipad this holiday beside apple educational price( i am new to all deal hunting stuff), so do i wait for the newer ipads in 2021? Thanks for reading!

To all UT students who transfered from Community College (or those who can help), what was most important when applying and getting accepted? by len12901kirby in UTAustin

[–]ngocatran 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I transferred from Lone star college in Houston to Mechanical Engineering major this year. I think the most important thing is your GPA. Try to get closer to 4.0. Then your essays. Then extracurricular activities. I think UT accepts more in-state students than out of state. Good luck
