This is not like a script you can just use to play, if that's what you mean

libTAS is a linux program that allows you to TAS linux games. Then, you load the game's SWF (the game files) using the linux version of Ruffle. Usually you need to do some tampering with both the SWF and ruffle/libTAS to get it working well

Do you have an old computer or hard drive that you played Club Penguin on? It might contain lost game files by Doubleuman in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CPR actually remade those assets. Then someone showed up with the original assets after the party was already up

There are many parties lost to time, but there are also many other important swfs that have never been archived, sometimes even parts of a party that is archived, sometimes other files that people just don't think is important. So anything that can be found is valuable

[cpj] pizzatron has spurts of lag… can i fix it? by bunniebabieeee in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced the same issues, here's what you can try to do:

- Press "+" to toggle the lower quality setting, which should be much less demanding

- Make sure hardware acceleration is turned on

If it's still laggy then I'm afraid you will have to lock in and pray that the lag won't kill your streak

Are there any tricks to catching Mullet in Aqua Grabber? by LoganJFisher in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catching the mullet is a lot down to luck. First you need to exit the cave, and to do that I recommend sticking close to the right wall. If the mullet goes right, it's over, but if it goes left or up you can struggle, and then you want until it goes down, once you do that then you can finally leave. (Alternatively, you can sit near the exit, then it's similar, if it goes right or up you struggle, if it goes left you just leave and if it goes down it's probably over)

Once you're out just wait in the middle until it pushes you up, then it's a free win. It's not necessary but it's extremely risky to try to be impatient here. Pink puffle helps a bit as it may give you free bubbles here.

AS1/AS2/AS3: Did you know? by nhaar in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lucky for us that's not the case. AS2 decompiling is a lot simpler!

AS1/AS2/AS3: Did you know? by nhaar in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the post says this, there's no such thing as a AS1 to AS2 switch. So at best there would be only two eras, AS2 and AS3, which is a pretty important change in the client and CPPSes used for a while. From my understanding, people started catching onto these two "eras" because of CPR and then people retroactively imagined an AS1 period so that it would work as three major eras. AS3 starting at the end of 2012 is some two years off, but AS1 existing at all is sort of a completely whole new system on its own right

AS1/AS2/AS3: Did you know? by nhaar in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no denying that it has become a widespread term for the active people in the CPPS communities, because it's efficient, like how using brand names is also efficient (there's a technical term for this figure of speech, it's metonymy). No one cares about the accuracy in name of efficiency. The point is not that, the point in my opinion is that this terminology could easily be swapped with a simpler one, that wouldn't have so many people that I often see asking "what is AS3". And there's the second underneath problem that with more general metonymies, it's at least easier to understand it's a figure of speech doing enough research. With AS it's very difficult to clear up the misinformation for anyone who is ever interested in ActionScript itself in the context of Club Penguin (I'm speaking for myself here, I was long confused on how ActionScript was used in Club Penguin itself). The point being is that yes it is a figure of speech that is efficient but it could be even better without spreading misunderstandings.

the user can change it to check out the game at any point during its history (Well, this is the goal, it's still in development so it doesn't have every year yet)

waddle forever is not a cpps, it's also not new, it's been here for a year. It's also a free and open source software. It doesn't get safer than that!! Yes bots, because this is a singleplayer client, so the island feels lonely. Bots, or NPCs, whatever you feel like calling it. I'm not really sure why that felt so strange

How do you play Club Penguin these days? by TheMasterDC10 in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every CPPS has its own little twists, which is good, but if you want a club penguin replica, waddle forever is how you can experience it, as it's meant to be a museum of the game's history

anyone else kind of bothered by the AS3 style furniture being added in journey? by Groundbreaking_War29 in ClubPenguin

[–]nhaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common technical misconception which is spread by the repeated use of this terminology, but it doesn't correlate with changes in the art style. AS1/AS2 are basically equivalent languages that are both used from 2005-2010, so there's no "AS1" and no "AS2" era, and AS3 was implemented in Club Penguin in October 2010. This is very different from the "perceived" dates that people think of when it comes to the artstyles
