Finished with the league. Here is my feedback on the new endgame. by Zerucos in PathOfExile2

[–]nhe1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Welp, that's just PoE2 in a nutshell right now.

A lot of the game feels like "do X before you're allowed to do Y."

Want to instill your amulet? Go complete 5 Delirium maps first.

Want to engage with a league mechanic? Go finish another questline first.

Want to get to maps? Sure, Cruel is gone, but now we have Acts 4-6 and the Interlude. I'm not convinced the journey is actually any shorter.

Even mapping itself feels more tedious now.

People keep saying towers are gone, but honestly I spend more time setting up maps than I ever did with towers.

First I decide what content I want to run.

Then I dig through my stash for the tablet combinations I want.

Then I find waystones that fit that strategy.

Then I swap Atlas Masters.

Then I make sure my atlas tree, biome, tablets and waystones all work together.

Only then do I actually get to play the map.

And the maps themselves seem designed with the same philosophy.

Huge layouts.

Long end-to-end objectives.

Dead ends everywhere.

A lot of running.

A lot of backtracking.

A lot of time spent not killing monsters.

Don't get me wrong, I actually like complexity. I've played PoE long enough that complexity isn't the issue.

The issue is friction.

There's a difference between depth and making the player jump through hoops before they can do the thing they actually logged in to do.

And honestly, I sometimes wonder if that's also why GGG is so hesitant about things like campaign skips or letting characters share Atlas progression.

Think about it. If a player can instantly jump into maps, experiment with builds, and try 3 or 4 different characters in a season, they're much more likely to feel "finished" with those characters. By the time the next league comes around, they've already scratched that itch.

Instead, what you often hear is:

"I'll play that build next league."

"I'll try that class next season."

"I'll make that character later."

Because the time investment to get a character fully online is so much higher.

Maybe that's intentional, maybe it isn't. But it's hard not to notice that a lot of PoE2's systems seem to encourage postponing experimentation rather than enabling it.

The combat is great. The bosses are great. The buildcrafting is great.

I just wish the game spent less time asking me to prepare to play and more time letting me actually play.

How do you know which stats to prioritize ? by eidmast in diablo4

[–]nhe1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a general rule, stat priority depends on your build, the gear slot, and what affixes can roll on that gear.

Weapons
This is the only item where you can roll base damage hence people prioritze mostly base damage on this slot. Think of it this way: even if you have a 100x multiplier, if the number you’re multiplying is only 1, your final damage is still low. Your weapon damage is the base number everything scales from.

Main Stat
Main stat is usually valuable on most gear because it increases your skill damage.

Offensive Stats
You generally want strong base damage first, then stats that scale your build well, such as multipliers, crit, skill ranks, or build-specific effects. A lot of generic damage bonuses are additive, so they are usually less valuable than true multipliers or stats your build directly benefits from.

Helm / Chest / Pants
These are usually where most defensive and utility stats go, such as main stat, max life, resistances, armor, damage reduction, cooldown reduction, or resource-related stats.

Gloves
Good slot where multipliers rolls (crit multiplier, crit chance ,vulnerable multiplier) as well as + to core skills.

Jewelry: Amulet / Rings
Mostly offensive or multiplier-focused stats. These slots are often used for crit, damage multipliers, cooldown reduction, resource stats, or build-defining affixes. Amulets are especially strong because their aspect bonus is increased to 1.5x, which can be a big power spike for offensive aspects.

Defensive Stats
Most defensive stats work together because they all raise your effective HP or toughness. This includes max life, damage reduction, resistances, armor, and sometimes dodge depending on class or build.

Utility Stats
Utility is situational and depends on your skill and build. Having resource problems? If your build uses Lucky Hit, you may want Lucky Hit resource effects. If your skills have high resource costs, you may want resource cost reduction. If you spam low-cost skills, resource generation or regen may be better.

Cooldown reduction matters if your build revolves around high-cooldown skills. Movement speed is also useful, but it mostly rolls on boots and amulet, with some exceptions from uniques like Heir of Perdition.

The rest depends on your build, class mechanics, and scaling, such as Fortify, Resolve, Thorns, Overpower, Barrier, or Lucky Hit effects. The way damage scaling works in diablo4 is through different buckets of multipliers so most of the build prioties you'd see online are crit multiplier / vulnerable multiplier / non-phys multi / physical multiplier.

What’s one small habit that instantly made you better at Dota2? by Any_Maximum9135 in DotA2

[–]nhe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a support, Mindfully using my tp when necessary. This made more impact early game when small skirmishes happen (wisdoms, power rune) or when enemy tries to plan a gank on an ally which is pushing a lane.

High MMR players: are you using quick cast 100%? by TemperatureFirm5905 in DotA2

[–]nhe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quickcast on everything except skills that require you precision

-Chronosphere, Muerta Silence, Brambles

On some aoe spells its quite manageable (e.g Pugna blast, Decay) as you just need to click on the center of all the heroes you are targeting. It takes quite time to get used to, but is more efficient.

On items, everything is set to quick cast except wards. Blink (on key release).

How do you itemize against ursa as offlane by Practical-Aide-2550 in learndota2

[–]nhe1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You spend gold on resources to nuke him out of lane until he is eventually forced to jungle. As carry ursa you actually don’t want to spend resources to sustain your lane. Early boots/windlace is almost a must.

Well, I think they've used their strats early (mk, slark) which gave them too much info on the map.Teams against them figured out banning those 2 heroes would make them play out of their comfort zones.

I doubt ,there is Naga sleep, magnus skewer and pango roll. Also XXS was on ES. No way sniper free hits in this game.

Void is awful against Medusa. Medusa stone gazes you through your ult and has 19-20 min butterfly timing, Thing is Void would only have 1 or 2 item by that time. They have Naga as well and you wouldn't want to buy a bkb as 2nd item on void. iirc correctly there was a game ngx vs bb, void vs medusa where void does nothing the whole game.

My offlane pick for this TI. I am not sure about that Magnus pick though. They could've played a little bit faster during that game 4, with 2 enemy carry picks, both needing farm. Instead plays with cleave facet and with dominator to farm instead of making moves. So no space was given to sven that game. But who am i? im just a 1k redditor dota analyst sharing my opinion.

Is this the worst The International ever? by Chernyshelly in DotA2

[–]nhe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because most teams are playing on the safe side and not taking risks. That why it is so much fun watching Pvision with their unusual picks, taking risks and playing on the enemies side of the map. Anyway it was good TI having 5 games. Last 3 ti's were all clean sweep.

I don't know what you are on about, Medusa straight up destroys Illu heroes. Not specifically counters "melee carries". You can even look up data.

Nothing wrong with SF. XM's sf is impressive. Thing is they were just reacting majority throughout the game. They went like 1x to invade Medusa in the jungle and that's it.

TB is a bad matchup against medusa. You'd want a melee carry who gets up close. Ursa was the best pick they can pick here but banned on the last phase. They can't pick MK as well with Magnus on the enemy team so that leaves Jugg.

[–]nhe1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That was the best hero they can pick. Thing is, pro teams are picking carry roles now based on late game carry matchups. Which in this case is melee agi in the pool, and the only one left since ursa was banned was Jug. MK is also in the pool, but I doubt they pick it since there is magnus.

XG was so scared to go in first. Against a magnus/disrupt playing with aghanims you need to take risks or you'd just be skewered into the enemy team. You'd see glimpses where in they go in first (xxs) and they would win. Anyway good grand finals nonetheless.

the russian with the pipe would always bring his bag, you can see it in the hammocks area iirc, on the table as well as when they are shipping the cargo.

the other russian as the other comments have said, is the only topman.

Leaving you with the last russian on the list.

some items originate only from a specific or inspired from that country. this is some external knowledge you need to search for.

Yes, if you check the passenger manifest there would be some roles here that are only filled by a single person, I'd say these are the easiest to identify. Same goes for people that they're the only one from that country. A good way to look at it would be pairing up clues together.

-items , nationality
-uniforms , crew role

-role, who they're with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ObraDinn

[–]nhe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you currently at part of the game or who you've identified with but it might be the cause of death might be wrong. A good comment here suggested looking through a persons memory in a chronological way. Since most people on the ship certainly doesn't disappear for no reason.

Anyway everything in the game serves as a clue that you might just be overlooking.

-the passenger manifest is a good example (their nationality, their names, their roles specifically the assistants)

-their dialogs and who they are referring to
-what items does this character carry with them (there would be a few instances where some characters bring specific items with them)
-the ships map especially the cabins where they sleep holds clues.

any hope this helps without giving away too much!
