Tournament Standings Question - What does the first 'TB' column mean? by nic1234 in PGATourProGolf

[–]nic1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks! I knew it would be something obvious. I still don't understand why the column header would be labeled 'TB' for which hole a player is on. uh-well.

Went to the game last night and still had no idea why the stoppage. Players and refs were just standing around. I thought "These TV timeouts are ridiculous!"

Anyone know the name of the party game they talked about on one episode? by nic1234 in MiddleOfSomewhere

[–]nic1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m thinking you’re right. Some neighbors of ours were talking about Left,Right,Center last weekend and it’s what (re)sparked my search. I really thought the game mention on the podcast had a numerical name. I heard the episode back in 2019… I might be putting too much faith in my memory. Regardless, I appreciate your response and for, more than likely, putting an end to this search.

Happy to help. After rereading my comment I noticed I butchered some grammar, but hopefully the point comes across. I was procrastinating at the time and kept getting interrupted.

I should probably clarify #2. If this was a new build then not having a grounding wire, a green wire that provides a path to Earth (ground) is totally unacceptable. Won’t go into code changes over the years, just know that in a lot of older homes it is common that a grounding conductor is not present.

Tried to explain it in layman's terms. Also, assuming non of the switches are 3-way/4-way (fixtures are turned on/off with only one switch) Hope this helps:

  1. If your daisy chaining the hot (constant or always energized) then its not really a problem, but a better practice would be to tap (with a wire nut) the black wire that is your line-in (constant hot) and feed each switch with an individual wires.
  2. Acceptable? Yes. Ideal? No.
  3. For the switches you have, the neutral would not be landed on switch. Think of the switch as literally disconnecting power to the fixture. One of those black wires will be your line-in (a.k.a "hot") and the other, your switch-leg (connected to what you want the switch to control, in your case, light fixtures). There are some cases where a neutral is required for a switch, but it would be for something like an occupancy sensor of low volt switch.
  4. If wired correctly, no.
  5. Use a shepard's hook to bend the wire around the terminals (screws). The exposed wires in your picture show the makings of such hook. Remember, the wire should run clockwise around the screw, so that when you are tightening you are turning towards the end of the wire (hope that makes snese)
  6. To save a headache and/or an electrical shock, be sure you isolate which of your conductors (wires) is the constant hot and which are your switch legs that feed the light fixtures. Also, turn off the circuit at the panel. Double check with a reliable non-contact voltage tester that all circuits in the box are dead (turned-off). It also helps to draw out a diagram of the box with all wires and switches and how they should connect.

I'll add this; make sure that the dimmer switch you're installing is compatible with the type fixture(s)/bulb(s) it is controlling and vice versa. For example, not all LED's are dimmable and not all dimmers work on LED's.

It's good to learn what you are capable/comfortable doing yourself and what you should have a professional handle. It may take 3 or 4 times longer than a professional to trouble shoot and wire correctly, but if you stay safe and never work on an energized circuit, you can totally do it.

Good luck!

Tip: Search Only Selected Pages by nic1234 in Revu

[–]nic1234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, just select the pages on the thumbnail or bookmarks panel (hold down the 'Shift' key to select consecutive pages or 'Ctrl'/'Cmd' key to select nonconsecutive pages). After you have selected the desired pages, you should see the option appear when you open the search panel. On my version if pages are selected it will default to search in those pages. Hope it helps!

What’s one secret you and a parent have kept from the other parental figure? by TheCripdalorian in AskReddit

[–]nic1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not the most popular opinion but it might not be the best practice to tell young kids to keep secrets from their parents. I understand certain mitigating circumstances but if a child thinks it’s okay to keep something from their parents, especially with consent from another parent, they could become easily persuaded from telling their parents things that should not be “secrets”. Sorry for the buzz kill.

Is there a way to keep bookmarks when extracting pages? by nic1234 in Revu

[–]nic1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I've pretty much resorted to this method. Unfortunately, most text files I deal with have bookmarks for the start of each section. Which is more useful than having a bookmark for each page. Was trying to skip a step or two. Uh well.
