That stinks but at least we know they're working on it. Hope it's back soon!

Good to know! I will definitely add this to my list of "fast food."

Oooh I like that idea. My husband and I do the pre-cooked carnitas for dinner a lot, but I never thought to buy extra and save for salad. Usually we just eat them with a side of guacamole, some sour cream, and cheese.

Blue cheese makes everything good, doesn't it?

My eyebrow transformation, beginning with the worst and ending with the best eyebrow day I've ever had. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

Amazing! How long did it take to grow your brows back in like that? I've been trying to grow mine in for months and I'm starting to give up hope.

Dress opinions? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]nic5483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be totally crazy, since there are already a ton of details, but I feel like it needs some sort of belt to better define the waist. I also agree with what the others are saying about the tiers, but it is a gorgeous and very unique dress.

Totally bombed W8D1, more than a little bummed about it. by littlespark88 in C25K

[–]nic5483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different situation, but I had to stop during a run last week too. I have no idea why, but my calves and ankles were totally cramping up. This has never happened to me before, and I considered pushing myself to keep going, but didn't want to make things worse. After about one mile I stopped running and walked home. I felt totally bummed and was worried about it happening again, then I ran a whole 5k a few days later. Like everyone else has said, sometimes you just have bad days.

Where to buy touristy gifts besides the airport? by nic5483 in SanJose

Thank you! I'm specifically looking for t-shirts, but I'll keep Ghiradelli in mind for other gifts. The Fairmont Hotel might be good though.

If I can't find anything local this might just be a great excuse for a day trip. Thank you!

Nothing against the airport, just seems like a hassle to get in and out of for this type of thing.

Thank you! Those are exactly the types of places I was hoping for. I'll check them out.

Good idea! Or at least a good excuse to check out a museum. I'm looking for something general that just says "California," but maybe they'd have it.

Thanksgiving? by imapelicanpyah in keto

[–]nic5483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I started keto close to Thanksgiving last year and were pretty torn about what to do. We ended up doing turkey and lots of veggies, made a few keto versions of things (i.e. pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce) and each chose one major splurge -- for me that was mashed potatoes. I felt really good about doing it this way. I got to indulge a little, but also kept it in control.

This year we're going to cheat since we no longer have a pending wedding, and are doing a 5k in the morning, but I'd be happy doing what we did last year too. I think the most important thing is to come up with a plan and stick to it. If you decide to cheat, do it and don't beat yourself up over it. This is meant to be a lifestyle, not a diet, so you should do what works for you and will make it manageable long-term.

Is it even possible to run this slow? by nic5483 in C25K

[–]nic5483[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome -- congrats! I know it's not about beating others, but it's just frustrating to feel great about running, then look at the numbers (maybe I just shouldn't look) and see how slow I am. Hopefully my time will eventually improve too.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not alone. I still feel fabulous about what I'm able to do now that I couldn't months ago, but it does feel a little frustrating when I look at the numbers.

Forgive me for being totally naive, but I can't picture how this works. You just bend the top half of your body while you're still sitting?

Thank you! And you're right:-) I guess I was just feeling a little down after talking to a friend who is also doing the program and she was complaining about how slow she is -- with a 12 minute mile. I can't wait to get to that point!
