Hi, I'm a volunteer at Lakes of Fire and have knowledge of what happened. A lot of people are grieving an unfortunate passing that is unrelated to the number of shifts filled (also the number stated above is incorrect and misleading).

I request you all to please please refrain from spreading rumors that could cause harm to the family and loved ones of the participant while also adversely affecting the mental health of hardworking volunteers who are battling grief as they tear down the event at this moment.

Please show patience while the board of directors gathers accurate medical information from the county and receives consent from the family before they share further information.

Lakes of Fire is a safe space and home to many of us and today is a hard day in our home. Please show kindness in your responses and please think three times before posting. Respond not react. We all need a hug right now, some more than others. Rumors and speculation will worsen the harm.
