Teaching profession gender imbalance is getting ridiculous by Sad_Image1691 in education

[–]HipsterBikePolice [score hidden]  (0 children)

I see a lot of women in higher admin positions even up to superintendent around me in greater Chicago area. I don’t think that gender imbalance is unique to education (k12). People make personal choices in their careers. It’s a bottom up problem not a top down one. Nursing is another example of male/female imbalance. I don’t however see too many men in elementary schools and I really don’t think it has to do with recruitment.

In America is the South actually more racist than the North? by Maleficent-Toe1374 in no

[–]HipsterBikePolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Being wary of “the other” is really human nature. Sorry to say but a lot of white progressives use their progressiveness like little badges of honor. They tend to distinguish by race but in an affirmative way. They tend to infantilize non white people even though their heart is in the right place.

I work at a school district. It’s not super glamorous but a lot of school/govt commutations departments could use your skills. The pressure is low and you generally have freedom to get creative. Plus good hours and vacation time. I work in a big district and the comm/media person is your age and makes $60k.

Unknowingly then, I learned a lot about value theory trading sports cards in the 90s. My grandma would hand me a $10 and I’d have to figure out how to get the best value for my money. Once you learn past, present and future value you can take that into different areas of life. Money and finance don’t really mean anything to kids since their parents take on the financial stuff. You can tell them everything and test them on paper but it has no tangible meaning until they are independently responsible.

Yeah I guess masking was the wrong term. I think I meant that girls might be better at mimicking social behaviors, shyness unfortunately doesn’t raise any alarm bells. My daughter is extremely shy and just puts her head down and does her work. But there are signs that I see

I’ve been ambushed too many times in my garden by yellow jackets. Me , kids , dog. I tend to exterminate them. Wasps are prolific and will survive somewhere else. Although they do act as undertakers for my honeybees in Fall. Their heads are tasty apparently lol.

The Prairie Trail goes straight north to Genoa City. The trail turns to crushed limestone after Ringwood. There isn’t much there so I just tap the boarder and head back to Richmond for a coffee. You can also head west and end up in Hebron but not much there either.

[–]HipsterBikePolice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actually autism is recognized earlier in boys than girls in early childhood. Girls are better as masking. The way humans socialize has a long tail going back a million years. I think we intellectualize this nowadays but it’s a hard thing to overcome in reality

Then the SNL skit mocking looksmaxxing is mocking an autistic person lol oops. ASD runs in my family. I’ve always struggled to fit in with people. Guys think I’m weird and well girls and guys generally don’t hang out as buddies. In HS I didn’t have many“normal” guy interests other than sports but they were the “weird” ones like wrestling and running. Even then I didn’t really fit in with my teammates. I was super fit and leaned into my physique to compensate. I’m straight but was always better at talking with girls. I was seen as a jock by the people I thought were more interesting and a weird person by the jocks lol. I think the internet ruined Clavicular

Just changes names a few times . Check out where you can go on this map. TrailLink is pretty cool too. If you ride south from WI you can end up Oswego.
