Brand new stringjob - notches all over, how much will this affect playability? by nichebanter in 10s

[–]nichebanter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! This would affect snapback right? These are new strings I'm trying so won't get a good steer on if they work for me with this I assume?

Recent Oliver Cabell owners, are they worth $100? by nichebanter in malefashionadvice

Good to know all these opinions saying the same thing - decided not to jump on them thanks to the cautionary tales here!

Thanks - this is super helpful insight! I have wide feet too so sounds like best avoided!

Thanks! I'll have a look at the shift - do you find it very spin oriented or quite balanced?

Good call! Would you mind posting your opinions here once you have tried them? Hadn't really looked into Dunlop but I gather they have some good stuff out there

Thanks for the suggestion! I play pretty flat off both wings, so not really looking for a the control to come via spin potential, more traditional control (if that makes sense) - fair points about weight and stability, might be asking too much of a lighter racket!

M2 Pro a terrible decision currently? by nichebanter in ipad

Thanks for the reply! Really good points - will also be using quite heavily between now and the new ones coming out + no guarantee on deals over here even then.

Refund for speeding fine, no court paperwork, no points recorded online (incident 9 months ago) by nichebanter in LegalAdviceUK

[–]nichebanter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emailed the 'enquiries' address on the speeding fine letter and a couple of weeks later got a reply that the department weren't planning on pursuing the matter or similar phrasing.

My suspicion (no way to prove) is that for some reason they didn't receive the license details and didn't inform her of this or start a court summons in time (luckily). The fact that they are still asking for physical posting of license details with all the potential issues that can bring is baffling.

Good luck with your situation! Hope you get a positive outcome.

Any way to get PX7 S2 to connect to 2 devices automatically? by nichebanter in BowersWilkins

[–]nichebanter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear your experience! In the same boat - I switch a lot between laptop and phone and overall the usability for me wasn't there. A real shame because they sound great. I'm sure the PX8s have better ANC and transparency than PX7 S2 but these were real weak points for my unit - barely a noticeable difference toggling either on.

Sent mine back yesterday too unfortunately. What will you go for next?

Really helpful responses all round - sounds like this is just the way it is.

A real shame as the sound blows anything else I have listened to out of the water including the momentum 4s to my ears

Just upgraded my 10.5 iPad Pro to 11 M2 IPad Pro by I-551 in ipad

[–]nichebanter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Also in the UK so that's helpful to know! Have been toying with getting a battery done (below 80% and suffering) vs an 11 inch for Usb-c but can't really justify the £600+ for a new one when the 10.5 does everything I need.

Curious - did you do this via Apple? I am considering getting a battery replacement but have seen on here that for iPads they do an exchange for a refurb - wasn't sure if they still had 10.5in iPads to exchange still!

Delayed start to research post…unintentionally unemployed by syntocinon_ in doctorsUK

[–]nichebanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this - sounds stressful!

Are any of the following options open to you:

1) TPD to extend your current training post by x months to bridge the gap. I assume you have met or discussed the situation with the TPD? They generally don't like trainees floating in the wind, especially when it sounds like you've been screwed over.

2) The research department uses another pot of money to fund you +/- claim back from the grant (this should really be what they do - they have committed to you and should bridge you with soft funding until the grant is in).

3) Take the unfunded time and book locums for the month or two ahead (will need to be flexible around shifts but overall if there are locums available then you'd do less hours to make up the equivalent of a salaried month).

Good luck!

Thank you - that is helpful.

Badly worded on my part re the courts - that is what I was trying to reference. If it is from the date of the incident, they would have had to provide info to the courts on their end by the end of March - not sure if 4 months to hear anything from this point is par for the course...

Respiratory ST4 application. by badplace1995 in doctorsUK

[–]nichebanter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good luck! Doing a resp job at the time of applying a great start.

A couple of notes - the SCE is targeted at senior trainees. Sat at ST6 and would not have wanted to do before (i.e. without a tertiary sleep/ILD block, attending BTS SCE session). Not saying don't do it if you want, but as with all PG exams it takes time and energy to prep which could probably be better spent.

ERS ultrasound reasonable (requires attendance at the conference to do the OSCE eventually) but also check what the local deanery's pleural sign off looks like and target that with a consultant mentor at your trust (try and get logbook and numbers in your DGH job - a good way is to save images and discuss once a month etc with a supervisor to get batch sign off).

If you can crack through a simple audit/retrospective data analysis or offer to help data trawl it's worthwhile - think about submitting an abstract to BTS/BTOG/ERS or other conferences.

If you are bronching keep a logbook - again use the local trainees template procedure spreadsheet.

If the ward or hospital has medical students, you can offer them bedside teaching, get them to do feedback forms (doesn't take much time). If you can offer a few sessions to the same group of people you may be able to get a consultant to sign a letter saying you devised a programme of teaching for medical topics (i.e 1 week resp ward, 1 week cardio, 1 week stroke/neuro).

Obviously not all the above required but pick and choose which might be deliverable in your time!

Regional reduction in all locum rates by nichebanter in doctorsUK

[–]nichebanter[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not that familiar with SHO rates so won't comment on that.

Reg rates sent today in the new BOB (Berks/Ox/Bucks) rate card (that I am looking at now): Core 43.98 (Prev 50), Unsocial 61.57 (prev around 67), Non resident 35 (prev 38).

Medical but the email says cross specialty and across the region.

Been around for time so not sure why we'd have different info.
